By Kate Swindlehurst - Apr. 25, 2023

A PCA job is a personal care assistant. A personal care assistant is a person who assists older people, disabled people, and people in recovery complete day-to-day tasks. They can help with household chores and hygiene and even support mobility.

To become a PCA, you must hold at least a high school diploma and receive on-the-job training. PCAs differ from CNAs as they do not provide medical care to their patients, but they can provide personal care. They often complete daily tasks, such as showering and cleaning.

They may also do more companion-like tasks, such as playing games or watching a favorite television show.
