What is self-assessment?

There are so many different areas in one's life where self-assessment can be used to improve one's well-being. For example, perhaps you want to lose weight and increase your health. Starting with a self-assessment is a great way to evaluate your current state and what you want to achieve.

Some examples of how self-assessment tests can be used for self-improvement:

• Personality Tests: These tests help to evaluate a person's character traits, work preferences, and communication skills. Examples include the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Big Five Personality Test, and the True Colors Personality Test.

• Cognitive Tests: Cognitive tests are designed to assess different aspects of thinking, such as logic, problem-solving, and strategy. Examples include IQ tests, aptitude tests, and career assessments.

• Mental Health Tests: Mental health tests are used to detect mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Examples include the Beck Depression Inventory, the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview, and the World Health Organization's Composite International Diagnostic Interview.

• Physical Health Tests: Physical health tests are used to measure fitness levels and evaluate the risk for certain diseases. Examples include cholesterol tests, blood pressure screenings, body mass index measurements, and vision/hearing exams.

• Learning Style Tests: Learning style tests are used to determine an individual's preferred methods of learning new information. Examples include the Kirton Adaptive-Innovative Inventory, the VARK Questionnaire, and the Kolb Learning Style Inventory.
