Why study law?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Mar. 13, 2023

You should study law because it prepares you for a career as a lawyer, which can be a wonderful career for many people. Lawyers frequently rank high on lists for best jobs, best-paying jobs, happiest jobs, and other positive superlatives. This is often credited to the satisfaction that many lawyers feel in their positions.

Lawyer salaries are on average over twice the average salary in the United States. This often leads to people feeling comfortable which leads to satisfaction. Of course, there is also a lot of schooling, often costly, associated with becoming a lawyer. If education and hard work are things that you are passionate about, you could do extremely well as a lawyer.

There are many different paths that you can take as a lawyer, which allows you to choose what works best for you and your life. You may choose to start your own business or work in a large firm with many other voices if that interests you. Many people view lawyers with a high level of prestige, so if that is something you seek in a career, law is a good job for you.
