Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us strengthening each other's ideas. That happens because each of us believes we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better! In the Siri and Information Intelligence organization, we work hard to bring the best user experiences powered by Apple Intelligence. One central part of the user experience is understanding the user's personal context and information-seeking needs: this means the experience understands the user deeply (their content, their behaviors, their preferences, etc.), and uses the deep understanding to help users accomplish things in an intelligent, intuitive, and private way, as well as delivering the most accurate, fresh, and rich experience to satisfy their information needs. We also develop generative AI-based models and systems to power Apple Intelligence features, which simplify users' lives, make them more productive, and enable them to consume all the information delivered on Apple devices more effectively and efficiently with less effort. In this role, you will drive LLM-based question answering, personal content search, and Apple Intelligence features to provide users with concise, accurate, and grounded information to help them complete their tasks quickly on Apple devices. You are expected to take advantage of the Apple ecosystem, which blends cutting-edge hardware, software, and strong privacy/security guarantees, integrate this with the phenomenal power of Reinforcement Learning for post-training of generative models, and then deliver truly delightful user experiences that are uniquely Apple. You will be responsible for devising the generative AI technology vision and strategy, developing advanced RL algorithms and synthetic/human data pipelines, evangelizing it, executing the plan, improving the quality of LLM-based models across multiple Apple Intelligence features, and delivering the end-user experience. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of organizational partners across foundation modeling, design, product and marketing, software engineering, and foundation modeling to impact billions of Apple users worldwide profoundly. • Network Systems Engineer

    Meta 4.8company rating

    Menlo Park, CA jobs

All of Meta's traffic goes over third-party Communications Service Provider (CSP) networks before it reaches Meta's users. This portion of the network which sits between Meta infrastructure and our end users has a direct impact on our users' product experience and Meta's revenue. The scope of the problem is significant since CSP networks come in a large variety of last mile access to home technologies, including fixed (fiber, cable, copper, FWA, satellite), cellular (3G/4G/5G) and in-home wireless access (WiFi 5/6/7). The market is bifurcated by a large number of infra OEMs and Service Providers on regional and country level. Many of them move slowly. Limited visibility into third-party networks and privacy/policy constraints with respect to personally identifiable information (PII) introduce unique challenges. All of this impedes scalability of solutions that require CSP collaboration and increases complexity for internal product interventions. The Communications Systems & Ecosystems team brings extensive technical knowledge of CSP infrastructure and unique engineering skills to develop solutions that enable Meta Family of Apps (FoA) teams to improve performance, competitive advantage and efficiency over a variety of CSP network conditions, either through direct internal optimizations with prod teams (i.e., control your own destiny), or engaging with external engineering teams on CSP partner side for joint solutions (i.e., collaboration with industry). **Required Skills:** Network Systems Engineer Responsibilities: 1. Apply extensive knowledge of wired and wireless networking to characterize and optimize features/algorithms in the Meta product stack to elevate user experience 2. Partner closely with engineering teams on Whatsapp calling, Traffic infra protocols and various other Family of Apps product teams to identify the highest impact issues in Meta product performance and efficiency 3. Perform competitive analysis and benchmarking for various RTC and video apps in lab and field 4. Develop actionable problem statements to reproduce, narrow down and root cause issues, and engage with partner teams on developing and testing solutions 5. Modify Meta production software either as a development branch for proof of concept development, or for the final implementation 6. Work closely with Ecosystem, Telco Partnership and Policy teams to structure programs with CSPs to conduct technical due-diligence and provide technical support **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience 8. Extensive background in communication systems and networking, with working level understanding of communication protocols across the CSP stack 9. In-depth understanding of Wireless networking technologies and standards (Wi-Fi and/or cellular) 10. Expertise in big data analysis - implement data swarm pipelines, analyze big datasets and automate 11. Expertise in evaluating and optimizing network performance with multiple skills ranging in data and signal processing, statistical methodologies, analytics, simulation, emulation, lab setups, field trials, and prototyping for feasibility and trade-off analysis 12. Proficiency with one or more of the following programming or scripting languages: Matlab, Python, C/C++, ns-3 13. M.Sc. or Ph.D. in EE, Computer Science or Data Science with minimum 6+ years of industry experience **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 14. Understanding of WebRTC, QUIC, HTTP2 15. Hands-on experience with Network debugging tools (e.g. packet sniffers, protocol analyzers) 16. Background in AI/ML/LLMs 17. Experience with developing firmware or software for production **Public Compensation:** $163,000/year to $225,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits **Industry:** Internet **Equal Opportunity:** Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer. We do not discriminate based upon race, religion, color, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, sexual stereotypes, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.
