Do you want to shape the future of technology and multimedia? Apple's Multimedia Engineering team is looking for a video standards engineer who will represent the voice of Apple Multimedia in standards bodies around the world. In this role, you will join a small team that is responsible for Apple's engagement with several standards developing organizations including Alliance for Open Media (AOM), ITU, MPEG, 3GPP, and others. You will investigate and develop new media technologies collaborate with other teams within Apple in such development and then engage with these organizations for their standardization.
As a video standards engineer, you will be a member of a team that represents Apple in the international standards' community. In this role you will be providing a clear position on our analysis of ongoing standards, refining and commenting on work in progress, proposing and driving to completion Apples initiatives and in general, steering the work to develop the field in line with Apple's vision and values. You may also represent Apple at standardization calls and meeting, integrating the feedback of the Apple community on the ongoing work and representing that at meetings. You will engage with various standards bodies, including the Alliance for Open Media, MPEG, 3GPP, ITU etc. and you will be involved in the development of new 2D and 3D multimedia standards. This position requires travel.

Experienced in developing sophisticated video compression technologies such as MPEG-4 AVC, HEVC, VVC, or AOMedia's AV1 adn AV2 helpful. Track record of effective participation. Able to develop, analyze, propose and refine new algorithms and techniques; help develop Apples intellectual property position with inventions and filings. Experienced in key multimedia specifications from AOM, ISO, ITU, SMPTE, etc. Familiar with software development tools including Xcode, Git etc. Proficient in practical software development and able to contribute to large codebases e.g. of reference software (C, C++). As a member of the DFX team, you will have direct impact in the creating solutions for the complex problems that directly impact final quality, cost and delivery of Meta advanced devices. You will define and implement manufacturing process best practices with respect to the design of our products. As a key member of the Technical Operations team, you will partner closely with Hardware Engineering, Quality, Test Engineering and our Manufacturing partners to provide manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are manufacturable from concept to mass production.
Minimum Qualifications
* NX or PTC Creo CAD experience
* Knowledge of GD&T and experience creating tolerance analysis from assemblies and part level drawings
* 5+ years in engineering roles with experience in product design or manufacturing
* Familiarity with consumer electronics mass production manufacturing operations
* NPI (New Product Introduction) and manufacturing operations experience
* Ability to travel to the Asia Pacific region
Preferred Qualifications
* Working knowledge of optics principles as related to CCD cameras and optical alignment
* Experience in automation/machine design for high precision manufacturing

Responsibilities
* Partner with Product Design (PD) to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges by following best DFX practices and principles and establishing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) with Meta Cross functional teams
* Develop manufacturing assembly processes, fixtures, and equipment requirements at the factory, and drive line and fixture qualifications
* Develop new or improved manufacturing processes through application of theoretical and practical engineering to enhance product quality and production efficiency
* Drive all factory-related operational issues related to final assembly processes during pre-production builds through mass production and end of life
* Provide production support engineering with respect to technically complex assembly procedures, testing methods, and failure analysis
* Provide direction, guidance, and resources to other engineering groups and factory technicians
