Responsibilities
The SecurityOfficer plays a critical role in protecting the life and property of all persons on the premises and patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Secures, unlocks, and protects hospital buildings. Responds to security needs of hospital personnel, patients, and visitors. This position is safety sensitive.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
* 1+ years' healthcare-specific experience or relevant experience in law enforcement or military service.
* Experience prioritizing, conducting, and documenting investigations.
* Level 2 Security license issued by the State of Texas.
* Level 3 Security license issued by the State of Texas required within 90 days of hire.

Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general direction of the Facilities/Security Director, and law enforcement liaison this position is responsible for providing security for patients, employees and visitors; protecting Hospital buildings, assets and patrolling interior and exterior premises as assigned. This position is filled with currently licensed (peace officers) public law enforcement will be able to assume the role and responsibilities of their public post, in the event of a national or local emergency or other similar incident as deemed appropriate by local, state and or federal law. In the absence of Facilities/Security Director, the Peace Officer on duty would be the responsible point of contact.
* Consults with and keeps supervisors informed of activities, needs, and problems in assigned areas.
* Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from Hospital personnel, students, and visitors; assists in intervening in physical confrontations with violent persons.
* Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
* Escorts personnel to parking lots and Hospital buildings when requested.
* Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
* Responds to scene and provides necessary controls involving disasters, fires, alarms, codes, or emergency incidents and their associated drills.

Under the direction of the Security Manager or designee, the off duty Armed Police Officer (APO) is responsible for the protection of the facility's assets, people and programs. The APO establishes a positive Security image by being highly visible and vigilant to fire, health and safety hazards as well as criminal threats. The APO takes immediate corrective action on violations and/or deficiencies to minimize the potential for harm. The APO maintains a close working relationship with hospital employees to provide a safe and secure environment.
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Supports the hospital's safety and security management program in an attempt to provide a safe and secure physical environment.
+ Assists all hospital patients, visitors and employees with dignity and respect and acknowledges their needs in a timely manner.
+ The APO's conduct demonstrates compliance with and reporting of suspected violations of relevant laws, and regulations, the facility's compliance policies and procedures; and HCA's Code of Conduct.
+ Provides preventative patrols in the area in and around the Emergency Department.
+ Assists hospital staff with the enforcement of Temporary Detention Orders (TDO) or Emergency Custody Orders (ECO) when appropriate.
+ Provides emergency communication between the hospital and the police department during emergency situations.
+ Responds to various emergency codes to provide security services where appropriate.
+ Assists in restraining patients under supervision of a physician or nurse.
+ Prepares written reports as necessary, including daily activity reports, incident reports, and other reports as required. Reports any and all unusual incidents and crimes occurred during assigned shift on appropriate forms no later than the end of assigned shift. Passes on to relief any and all orders pertaining to post.
+ Is alert for and challenges individuals who seem out of place.
+ Promotes and maintains a safe and secure environment in the Emergency Department and other areas of the Hospital as needed.
+ Other duties as may be assigned.
