The Wire Harness Design and Release Engineer is responsible for the design and release of wiring harness assemblies and related components. This role involves coordinating drawing creation in both 2D (Capital XC) and 3D (NX via Teamcenter), as well as ensuring proper validation of components in both vehicle and component environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and release wiring harness assemblies and related components
Create and manage 2D drawings using Capital XC and 3D models using NX within Teamcenter
Validate released components through testing in both vehicle and component-level environments
Support manufacturing and supplier facilities throughout the product life cycle
Manage and resolve design issues identified at the plant or reported by suppliers
Process and implement engineering change requests (ECRs) from manufacturing plants and suppliers
Manage large volumes of data and incorporate design updates into current and future vehicle programs
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree (Materials, Chemical, Civil, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering) from an ABET-accredited university
Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
At least 3 years of experience in transportation wiring design and release, or vehicle electrical systems
Excellent communication skills, including written reports and management-level presentations
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Training in DFMEA, DVP&R, and DFSS development tools and processes
Working knowledge of CAD systems such as NX and Catia
