Assistance League of Los Angeles company history timeline

1919

In 1919, Anne, Ada and their charity-minded friends formalized Assistance League of Southern California, as a precursor to the national organization.

1936

The first chapter was Assistance League of San Pedro in 1936.

1944

Many girls’ groups were started in the early years and by 1944, they were consolidated.

1949

National Assistance League was incorporated in August 1949 as an organization separate from Assistance League of Southern California.

1962

The names National Assistance League and Assistance League were registered with the United States Patent and Trademark office in 1962.

1965

In 1965, a cottage at 5538 Fernwood Avenue was purchased by National Assistance League for its headquarters.

1967

In 1967, with 42 chapters of the national organization, the United States was divided into six regions and grew to eight regions.

1985

In 1985, the first fifty years of service were celebrated.

2003

Convention 2003 introduced members to the new brand that makes a strong visual appeal and indicates the intent to unite all chapters nationally.
