Clinical faculty supervise practicum experiences for Nazareth undergraduate and graduate students assigned to the on-campus Speech-Language Clinic and to community-based outreach programs operated by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD). Clinical education is provided in accordance with ASHA standards and includes direct supervision of both therapy and diagnostic services. Responsibilities include coordination and collaboration with students, clients, and families within clinical settings, as well as participation in interprofessional teams across other Nazareth clinics and community-based sites. In addition to clinical education responsibilities, clinical faculty are assigned undergraduate or graduate teaching duties aligned with their credentials, clinical expertise, and qualifications.
Clinical faculty participate in department meetings and contribute to departmental service activities. Serve as a lead MEDICAL INSTRUCTOR delivering evidence-based nursing instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings
Teach core nursing courses including fundamentals, health assessment, medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, and patient-centered care
Maintain academic rigor by developing course objectives, lesson plans, syllabi, and competency-based assessments aligned with accreditation and state standards
Evaluate student performance using exams, clinical evaluations, skills check-offs, and learning analytics
Provide academic advising, skills coaching, and professional mentorship to support student retention and graduation outcomes
Curriculum & Accreditation Support
Collaborate with faculty leadership to design, review, and update nursing curriculum and program outcomes
Participate in institutional accreditation, program reviews, and regulatory compliance processes
Contribute to faculty committees, governance councils, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support data collection and reporting for student learning outcomes and program effectiveness
Professional Engagement & Leadership
Maintain professional and clinical currency through continuing education, professional organizations, and scholarly activities
Serve as a MEDICAL INSTRUCTOR mentor to adjunct faculty and clinical preceptors
Represent the nursing program in campus, community, and healthcare partnership initiatives
Foster a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment
Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing (required)
Licensure: Valid New York State RN License in good standing
Certifications: AHA BLS CPR Certification (current)
Experience:
Prior teaching or academic instruction experience preferred
Clinical or professional nursing experience required
