The Medical Assistant Supervisor, in collaboration with the Medical Assistant Manager and/or Clinical Manager, is responsible for the coordination and direct supervision of assigned Medical Assistant/Surgical Techs and Nursing Assistants. Incumbents support day-to-day clinic operations to ensure safe, quality patient care.
This position is a 1.0 FTE (full time) onsite position working at our South Lake Union location.
Responsibilities
Hires, orients, supervises, trains, and conducts competency assessments for assigned staff.
Responsible for evaluating performance and recommending promotion, pay changes, as well as imposing disciplinary actions or termination.
Manages scheduling, time-off requests, and timecards for team.
Develops and maintains communications with providers and Nursing staff regarding room assignments, patient flow, preparation for clinic, staffing, and procedures.
Acts as a role model for all Medical/Nursing Assistants and represents their interest in clinic planning, budgeting, and projects.
Effectively intervenes with a patient in crisis, problem solves and conducts de-escalation and service recovery.
Designs, conducts, analyzes, and takes appropriate action on internal quality assurance audits.
Holds Medical/Nursing Assistants accountable for their work and sets performance expectations and standards.
May fill in to provide routine care or provide coverage for other Medical Assistant Supervisors as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
Education that enables obtainment of Medical Assistant Certification in the State of Washington
Minimum of 2 years as a Medical Assistant preferably in an ambulatory oncology clinic or the equivalent 1 year in lead or similar role of progressive responsibility
Currently a Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice
Current Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington within 30 days of hire as applicable, depending on location
Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
Participate in process improvement initiatives
Ability to appropriately respond to emergencies or disasters per clinic protocol
Proficient in email and word processing systems
Experience with Electronic Medical Records
Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

The hourly pay range for this position is from $36.85 to $55.26 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Identify and report conditions that adversely impact the downtown area or those living, working, or visiting the downtown area.

Bachelor's Degree or Masters Degree in Medical Technology/ Specialist in Blood Bank or related field.
ASCP certification as MT/MLS, BB, or SBB.
Previous leadership experience (ideally in Blood Bank, Transfusion Services, or Reference Laboratory)
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
