Atenas College company history timeline

1998

In 1998, a bill was passed in the Alabama legislature to change the name to Athens State University.

2008

The project is executed in four phases, starting in November of 2008, without any disruption to the operation of the School.

2009

Our college was established by its founding trustees with the Georgia Secretary of State in the fall of 2009, in answer to God’s call to meet an unfulfilled need in the greater Athens area—to provide local, hands-on equipping for effective Christian ministry.

2010

Τhe restructuring-renovation and upgrading of Benaki Hall is completed in May 2010, with absolute respect for its traditional architectural features.

Originally named the Athens School of Ministry & Worship Arts, the institution received its federal non-profit (501c3) status in September of 2010.

2014

As of 2014, the Informatics Center operates on the 2nd floor of the newly built Alexandra Martinou building.

2019

On Friday, May 17, 2019, the Athens State University Board of Trustees named Doctor Philip Way as the 37th president of Athens State University.

2020

In fall 2020, ACMin also received approval from NC-SARA to expand its boundaries into offering distance education

2022
