Where You Will Work: You are a part of the Office of the General Counsel statewide team and will work in our District 5 Chief Counsel's office located at 719 South Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, Florida 32720 Annual Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 Your Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for providing legal counsel and representation of the Department in all phases of the acquisition of right-of-way for transportation facilities. Responsible for representation in all phases of eminent domain proceedings, including research, the preparation of pleadings, discovery, preparation of witnesses, hearings, settlement negotiations, and trial. Responsible for preparing real estate conveyance documents. Responsible for representation in defense of the Department in claims of inverse condemnation, as assigned. Responsible for thoroughly researching all state and federal statutes, court cases, rules, and regulations affecting the right-of-way acquisition operations of the Department. Responsible for advising the right-of-way offices the attorney is assigned to work with of their legal powers and duties, how the law affects their operations, and the implementation of policies and rules. Provides support to Department attorneys representing the Department in claims and litigation against and by the Department. Assists with responding to public records requests and subpoenas, as assigned. Qualifying Questions will not disqualify an applicant.
