Focused on expanding our network of ABA Therapy Clinics and special education schools across the country and ensuring students of all abilities have access to an education that prepares them to reach their fullest potential. Previously, was President and CEO of Sylvan Learning, one of the world’s largest networks of tutoring centers and one of the most recognized brands in education and franchising. Before Sylvan, was a principal at Sterling Partners, a middle market private equity firm with deep investment experience across the education and health services sectors. Previously, SVP of Operations at Prometric, a global computer-based testing company. Prior to joining the private sector, was a political appointee in the Clinton Administration. Served as the chief of staff for the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the United States Department of Labor, and later as a staff attorney in the Office of the Counsel to the President at the White House. Active on several non-profit and philanthropic boards, including Thread, an innovative organization that engages under-performing high school students confronting significant barriers outside the classroom by providing each one with a family of committed volunteers and increased access to community resources.

Past Experience prior to CEO role: President & COO for Distinctive Schools leading all finance, IT, operations, facilities, HR, legal, communications and strategy functions for the network. Special Education Director leading all services, compliance and support for all diverse learners. School Director at CICS West Belden and CICS Bucktown, both managed by Distinctive Schools. CICS West Belden was the winner of an NGLC planning and launch/implementation grant and has been transformed into a personalized learning model. Proven success as a change leader in education focused on culture, people, innovation, personalization and strong school and network performance . Catalyst for education reform and transformative change with an emphasis on student growth and achievement. Passionate about community led initiatives with an energetic and strong leadership style. Steve Kossakoski is a Board of Directors, Nellie Mae Education Foundation at Nellie Mae Education Foundation and Chief Executive Officer at Virtual Learning Academy Charter School and is based in Exeter, New Hampshire. He has worked as Director of Technology at Sanborn Regional High School, Teacher at Sanborn Regional High School, and Assistant Superintendent at Sau 16. Steve studied at University of New Hampshire between 1994 and 2000, University of New Hampshire between 1990 and 1993, and Keene State College between 1977 and 1981.
