Join Avera's Careflight Team who has received the AAMS program of the year award. You will be involved with complete emergent interfacility and on scene transports.
You will be working at our three Careflight bases in South Dakota located in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, and Pierre.
You will be provided with the opportunity to practice autonomy at the highest level of paramedic scope of practice.
Our 12 & 24 hour shifts provide you with flexibility for work-life balance. Your schedule is provided in 6 week blocks.

A Brief Overview
Provides emergency medical services, under the direction and supervision of the Emergency Department Physician and management for providing high quality patient care according to established standards of performance, the philosophy and objectives of Avera and the Careflight Program.
What you will do
* Collects patient health data from patients, referring healthcare providers and patient charts.
* Analyzes the collected data to assist in determining diagnoses and area of problem focus.
* Identifies expected outcomes and goals individualized to the patient, and develops a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes during transport.
* Implements the interventions identified in the plan of care.
* Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of the outcomes, calls medical director for orders or utilizes protocols in place.
* Evaluates own practice in relation to professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations. Completes peer evaluations when requested.
* Acquires and maintains current knowledge in practice, procedures and care.
* Collaborates with the patient, significant others and health care providers to provide appropriate patient care.
* Utilizes research findings in practice if appropriate.
* Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering patient care in support of responsible, ethical and safe patient care and environments.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
* Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C) - International Board of Speciality Certification (IBSC) within 2 Years and
* EMT - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire and
* EMT - South Dakota Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners (SDBMOE) Upon Hire and
* EMT - North Dakota Health and Human Services within 90 Days and
* Drivers License - Licensing Board Upon Hire
* 3 years of field experience in ALS ambulance, previous teaching experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Proficiency in all EMS skills and familiar with various EMS training techniques

Provide welcoming and educational environment for students and complete any academic assessments in a timely fashion.
Physical activities include but not limited to will require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials. Attend training classes to maintain national certification, state licensure, and keep abreast of new developments in the field, or maintain existing knowledge. The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.
The Emergency Department is a 43-bed unit with a 15-bed CDU that specializes in Emergency Care. We are a level IV Trauma Center and Accredited Chest Pain and Stroke Center. We are a busy inner city Emergency Department that serves the Denver community. Our typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4. Minimum Qualifications
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
