Axis Communications company history timeline

1984

In 1984, Mikael Karlsson, Martin Gren and Keith Bloodworth founded Axis aiming at changing the way people use and think about digital devices.

1991

In 1991, Axis Communications introduced a multi-protocol print server supporting both TCP/IP and NetWare.

1995

Also by 1995, Axis Communications had opened sales offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo, Japan.

In 1995, the company introduced a file server independent, multi-protocol CD-ROM server, supporting TCP/IP (NFS) and Windows (SMB), for Ethernet networks, the AXIS 850.

1996

In 1996, Axis Communications introduced the industry's first network camera, the AXIS 200.

2004

2004 - Axis introduces the first network camera equipped with Power overEthernet and MPEG-4 compression (PoE)

2012

2012 - Axis introduces AXIS Camera Companion, an entry-level IP video solution for small installations.

2014

In 2014, Axis Communications published a sustainability report disclosing it had reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 13 percent and that 65 percent of the company's network cameras and video encoders are PVC-free.

2018

In May 2018, Axis opened a new R&D office for software development in Linköping, Sweden.

In November 2018, Axis Communications was delisted from Nasdaq Stockholm.
