B Street Theatre company history timeline

1986

That was until he moved to Sacramento in 1986.

Founded by actor Timothy Busfield in 1986 as Theatre for Children, Inc., the company’s first focus was a touring theatre company for children.

1991

In 1991, the B Street Theatre opened its doors.

In 1991, in an effort to broaden the success of B Street Theatre School Tour, Timothy Busfield and his brother Buck Busfield created B Street Theatre.

1994

With the B Street Internship beginning in 1994, the Tour has become a training ground for acting, directing, and playwriting interns to hone in on their skills and develop into the actors that one day will perform on the B Street Main Stage.

2003

Since its premiere season in 2003, the Family Series has presented over 50 professional plays for approximately 300,000 children and families in the Sacramento region.

2016

In 2016, the company broke ground on Capitol Avenue to build The Sofia, Home of B Street!

2017

Fond Memories: Famous Audiences for Fantasy TheatreDecember 5, 2017

2018

History Extravaganza IV will begin touring the Sacramento area in January of 2018.

In 2018, B Street moved into their brand new, state-of-the-art-complex: The Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for Performing Arts.
