Guadagno was a passenger on United Flight 93 on September 11, 2001. His love for animals and the outdoors led him to a career as a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, dedicating his life to protecting the environment. After graduating from Rutgers University, he worked for seventeen years in refuges in New Jersey, Delaware, Oregon, and finally, Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge in northern California where he was a Project Manager. Guadagno Conservation Fellow experience at Flight 93 National Memorial and another Conservation Fellow at Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge in California annually.
