City of Berkley company history timeline

1820

The land was given to the investors from the Rancho San Antonio land grant in 1820 for use to develop a new community.

1878

In 1878, the city became incorporated as Berkeley.

1930

Opened in 1930 to honor the need for a women’s activity center, The Club, also known as the “Little Castle,” was designed by Julia Morgan.

1981

2022
