Blackhawk Technical College company history timeline

1961

The college continued to offer transfer, career, and adult education classes, and in 1961 it became Black Hawk College – the first county-wide junior college in Illinois.

1965

In 1965, with the passage of “The Illinois Public Junior College Act,” Black Hawk College became part of the state’s system of higher education, committed to offering traditional liberal arts courses, occupational courses, and adult education courses at its campus in Moline.

1967

Instruction was delivered at the Kewanee National Guard Armory and at Kewanee High School beginning in 1967.

1968

The Beloit and Janesville schools, along with the major portions of Rock and Green Counties, were organized into a single system on July 1, 1968.

1987

In August, 1987, along with the other 15 state technical institutes in the state, Blackhawk Technical Institute was renamed Blackhawk Technical College.

2000

Institutionally administered financial aid is available to distance learners.Services Distance learners have accessibility to academic advising, bookstore, career placement assistance, e-mail services, library services.Contact Ms. It first offered distance learning courses in 2000.
