Part-time Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The part-time Membership Associate is responsible for delivering excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responding to member and guest needs, promoting memberships and programs, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
Interviews and/or tours prospective members; sells memberships.
Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
Employee will accurately report work time via approved YMCA Clocking Method: Branch Kiosk, YMCA site phone, YMCA iPad, or timesheet.
Administrative Duties:
Attend and participate in departmental meetings
Assist with facility tours
Serve as a YMCA representative at special events
Attend designated YMCA trainings and certification courses

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum age of 18
Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid.

Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
Previous customer service, sales, or related experience.
Basic knowledge of computers.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The part-time work schedules may vary per the Y's hours of operation. Most Y's are open 7 days a week:
Mon. - Fri. 5:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sat. 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Sun. 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, and kneel down or crouch.
Employees may be exposed to loud music.
Specific visual abilities include close, distant, peripheral, and depth.
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions
Ability to perceive, identify and respond to signs of distress.
