POSITION SUMMARY As a Strategic Technical Product Lead you will be responsible for leading the effort that links our Grid Services products and Data Integration services. As the business partner to the tech team, you will be responsible for visioning and overseeing a best in class data platform for operating Virtual Power Plants consisting of multiple battery vendors and other distributed energy resource technologies. You must be excited to lead the build of a new technical product that requires an organized data warehouse for storing, validating, organizing, aggregating, and serving time-based energy data. The data infrastructure must help standardize the way we handle observability and monitoring. In this role you will understand core business objectives and lead and define the future state technology platform vision. The Strategic Technical Product Lead role will define business requirements for the backend data pipeline, schema and API strategy to manage DPPs through a centralized command platform with a front-end product interface for internal and external users. Core to the data architecture will be API connectivity to battery and DERMS vendors, full stack web app development, data processing and normalization (e.g. telemetry), and data visualization (e.g. map and display all batteries, etc.). You will also act as Sunrun's public facing technology expert and be expected to assist the business development and policy teams in partner meetings, at conferences, and in regulatory proceedings. You will work closely with the Operations Team, TPMs, engineering leads, AI managers and designers across our product and platform teams. You will be seen as an advocate and thought leader about Grid Services technology strategy - i.e. OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5 protocols, etc. - and be expected to speak externally on these subjects as the lead SME. This role will continue after the initial technology build and will evolve into maintenance, improvement, and scaling of the platform as well as responsibility for aspects of the performance of the platform and the fleet. RESPONSIBILITIES Work within an operational team to lead and define future state technology vision while ensuring that the current day to day needs of the domains are being met. Work closely with other Engineering leaders, business stakeholders and others to drive outcomes. Work cross-functionally with program, pricing, policy, operations, product management and business development teams to prototype and then iterate on product and process Develop and manage team efficiencies, performance standards and expectations Speak externally on behalf of the company in technical fora as well as in business development meetings with external partners Stay up to date on the competitive landscape and changes to our industry TARGET ACHIEVEMENTS: Within your first month, you will familiarize yourself with our operations, current battery control strategy and tools, policy developments, and data architecture. You will be expected to ask critical questions and develop a point-of-view. By the end of month two, you will build business requirements for a new technical product, working closely with operations and engineers to drive forward product implementation. By the end of month three and beyond, you will begin to contribute to business development as a SME on platform capabilities, and independently leading product development QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years of experience - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required Experience leading data architecture / infrastructure products Experience with energy monitoring and data platforms, like VPPs, DERMS or similar Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, and Salesforce, AWS and related products Full stack experience preferred, in addition to backend and data experience including Python, Django, PostgreSQL, REST API, React, JavaScript, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Experience optimizing cloud strategies and infrastructures Experience with Observability toolings and frameworks such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Cloudwatch and others. RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES Responsibilities: · Operating and inspecting assigned equipment including but not limited to forklifts, vehicles, tools, and/or cranes. · Assist/perform evaluations, repairs, and/or new builds per the job traveler, procedures, drawings, and verbal instructions. · Assist/perform the assembly process and testing of hydraulic power units, lube systems, and components as per customers request, procedures, drawings, and verbal instructions. · Complete Field Service Paperwork; timesheets, JSA, Delivery Tickets, etc. · Direct Contact with Customers, OSS, ISS, etc. · Assist with maintenance inspections of field service equipment, while making necessary repairs. Administrative/General: · Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of processes, procedures, and guidelines. · Assist in special projects as assigned by the Field Service Manager. · Subject to other duties and/or projects as assigned by CFI Management. Requirements REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS · Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Preferred: Trade school or other certifications. · Experience: There are two levels for the Field Service Technician, each building on the other as follows: o The uncertified Field Service Technician has 3-8 years of experience and does not have any specialized hydraulic certification. o The Senior Field Service Technician has 8+ years experienced and has specialized hydraulic training/ or other certified schooling. · Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Know basic tools, average to good math skills (fractions), basic computer skills, read and understand hydraulic/electrical schematics with the ability to troubleshoot. · Character Traits: o Team oriented and spirited o Dependable o Integrity o Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) o Organized o Able to handle multiple assignments with strict deadlines · Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, climbing, walking, crouching, stooping, twisting, and bending. This position is responsible for operating multiple Veolia contracted client water and wastewater facilities. The primary purpose of this position is to cover vacations & absences at existing facilities, assist in the training and development of local operations teams, and to serve in a support role at new account start-ups. This position will be responsible for assisting with the overall operation and maintenance of accounts in their area. This includes process changes to meet compliance, troubleshooting processes & equipment, maintenance (routine, reactive, and preventive), process & compliance sampling, laboratory testing, and writing and distributing a daily shift report. In between time at designated accounts, this position will be responsible for the development of training resources for general water and wastewater industry knowledge, as well as site specific treatment training for all technicians in their region. This position requires significant travel, sometimes for extended periods of time - This can range from 1-2 weeks away from home at a time, all the way up to a month for extenuating circumstances. Essential Operational Duties and Responsibilities: * Maintain complete operational coverage of the Veolia operated facilities in your designated region as vacations and unplanned absences arise. Coverage will be required on both day shifts and night shifts as absences arise, requiring significant schedule flexibility. * Assist in the operational development of all local technicians within your designated region. This includes in-person hands on training visits to multiple sites, assisting in the development of electronic training materials & resources, and directing training efforts of individual technicians. Additional training time will also be required with all new technicians as they are hired. * Ensure that industry standards and best practices are in use at all Veolia operated facilities in your designated region.This includes but is not limited to: recordkeeping methods, lab testing procedures, operational practices, preventative maintenance practices, etc.. * Support new account start-up projects as they arise. This will involve working closely with the Senior Wastewater * Operational Technician (SWOT) team to develop operational tasks, procedures, and goals, in addition to training newly hired technicians. * Provide knowledgeable support to local technicians within your designated region to assist in troubleshooting process issues as they arise. Ensure that proactive decisions are being made by local technicians on a regular basis. * Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of water into the Wastewater treatment plant. * Collect and test Wastewater samples to determine concentration levels and impurities at the designated testing frequency. * Responsible for accurate record keeping of client data such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, and water pressure. * Comply with all Veolia and Client's safety parameters/programs. * Analyze lab data to uncover potential treatment issues and then implement process changes to prevent non-compliance. * Consult with Clients and Veolia management in the operations of their Wastewater plant to determine the best treatment for their Wastewater. * Advise clients on the appropriate methods for hazardous waste spill clean ups, recycle programs, energy savings programs, and water usage reduction Essential Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities * Coordinate with Client to schedule third-party maintenance support for all maintenance projects that are outside of Veolia's scope of work. * Complete all preventative maintenance defined by Veolia and Client management at the designated frequency. * Completion of all preventive maintenance must be documented accordingly. PM tasks include, but are not limited to; changing filters, changing oil, greasing bearings, documenting operating temperatures, exercising valves, etc... * Complete, or assist in the completion of, all minor maintenance projects that may arise to ensure the Wastewater treatment facility remains operating effectively and efficiently. These maintenance items include, but are not limited to: chemical pump repair & replacement, small PVC piping installation, valve replacement, AOD pump repairs, check-valve cleanouts and repairs, etc... * Complete, or assist in the completion of, all intermediate maintenance projects that may arise to ensure the * Wastewater treatment facility remains operating effectively and efficiently. These maintenance items include, but are not limited to: replacing mechanical pump seals, replacing packing seals, replacing impellers, full PVC line * replacements, centrifugal pump replacements, displacement pump replacements, check-valve cleanouts and repairs, etc... Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: . * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google equivalent required. * Strong mechanical aptitude preferred. * Strong communication skills, both verbally and written, required. * Willingness to learn and be able take instructions on Wastewater treatment processes * Minimum Grade 1 Wastewater license required * 3+ years of experience in Wastewater treatment plant operations or related field required. * 5+ years experience in Wastewater treatment plant operations preferred. * Ability and desire to build and maintain a "team mentality" * Prior experience in a traveling work role preferred Water Tech offers you a competitive compensation and benefits package, along with a dynamic work environment.
