The Applied Genomics, Computation & Translational Core (AGCT) are looking for a Research Associate III to join the team!
The Cedars-Sinai Applied Genomics, Computation, and Translational Core (AGCT Core) is a fully equipped, state-of-the-art genomics facility offering data generation and interpretation for basic science and translational research in next-generation sequencing technologies, including single cell omics, spatial transcriptomics, and bulk cell omics. We specialize in single cell omics and spatial transcriptomics via the 10x Genomics, Parse Biosciences, Mission Bio, and NanoString platforms. Our R&D team offers sample preparation for single cell assays, such as nuclei isolation from frozen tissue or single cell isolation from fresh tissue dissociation. The AGCT Core also offers comprehensive services for standard bulk cell sequencing in genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and metagenomics. Under general guidance, the Research Associate III works closely with Dr. Gayther, the CBFG and the AGCT Core, providing technical and/or administrative support in large or multi-project oriented labs. May be requested by PI to take on specific supervisory activities, and provide administrative leadership, and/or technical expertise. May develop hypothesis and assist in planning steps for the investigative process. Will review and remain current on literature as it relates to clinical/research study. Coordinates all lab and/or clinical activities, including but not limited to, budgetary/financial compliance, preparation of grant proposals, and creating independent presentations. Not responsible for generating grant funds.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides miscellaneous clinical/research support (ad hoc data analysis, hypothesis development, programming, troubleshooting, etc.).
Organizes clinical/research trials in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and sponsor and/or funding source.
Monitors and ensures compliance with safety standards and procedures.
Analyzes data and prepares scientific findings for publication as author or co-author.
May make independent presentations.
May provide system administration and maintenance for the local workstation network.
Leads and trains Research Lab Assistants, Research Fellow, lower level Research Associates, and other related support staff and may be requested by PI to take on specific supervisory activities.
Orients new Research Fellows and/or ResearchScientists to day-to-day lab operations and procedures.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
May participate as a Safety representative and attend safety monthly meetings providing updates.
Presents quarterly on lab-related protocols, updates, reminders, share information on equipment needed in the lab, discuss lab needs, lab improvements, lab issues, etc.
Assists with BER applications/updates & compliance, conduct safety monitoring with regular lab inspections.
Maintains eyewash weekly activation log, spill kits, safety training and compliance, as well as chemical and biohazard compliance.
Conducts basic training centering of new staff/interns/students/post-doc on proper and safe general lab techniques (e.g. ergonomics, pipette usage, sterile TC techniques, clean-up of spills, etc.).
Oversees CBFG and AGCT Equipment Service/Maintenance Agreements including requesting quotes, submitting requests for PO's, and contacting vendors when an instrument is not working properly, etc.
Liaison for RFO requests including updating contact form and information, as well as reagent quotes.
Serves as the point person for shipments involving dry ice and other biologicals.
Reconciles orders requested and received.
Point of contact for vendors.
Assists farm freezer/ CO2 incubator alarms on Cetani.
Assists with weekly lab ordering and other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation:
• Bachelor's Degree in a science related field is required.
Experience & Skills:
Three (3) years of research laboratory experience are required. General understanding of molecular biology.
Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, overall lab organization and cleanliness, as well as proper disposal of waste management.
Must have superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills and the ability to work across company disciplines and functional units, and computer application experience.
Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.

2. Ensure pharmaceuticals are dispensed per protocol, appropriate supplies maintained, secured and disposed of according to established policies and procedures.
3. Performs intubation, mechanical ventilation, vascular catheterization and line placement for physiological monitoring in rats and mice.
4. Works collaboratively with biomedical imaging staff to obtain advanced cerebral and systemic physiological imaging.
5. Performs stereotaxic surgery technique, including cisternal infusions, on rats and mice.
6. Tail vein and retroorbital injection in mice, oral lavaging the rodents and mice; vaccination and survival studies an measure the permeability constant using quantitative auto radiography.
7. Cutting-edge histology/imaging techniques including quantitative bright-field and fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy is required.
8. Performs routine biomedical experimental protocols including immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, ELISA, and neuronal cell culture.
**Qualifications**
**Education:**
Bachelor's degree in a Science related field is required.
**Experience:**
+ Three to five (3-5) years of experience in area of research specialization.
+ Technical skills and expertise in an area of study including, but not limited to, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Neuroscience, engineering, or mass spectometry.
+ Experience in cutting-edge histology/imaging techniques including quantitative bright-field and fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, and electron microscopy is required.
+ Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint) and analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers of the medical center.
**Physical Demands:**

Principal Investigator, Dr. Longfei Gao, PhD, is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join the team! The Gao Lab investigates the biology of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and their niches under normal and diseased conditions, with a particular focus on how the niche within and beyond the bone marrow regulates HSC behavior.

Qualifications
Educational & Experience Requirements:

Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to fiveyear post-doctoral appointment.
Experience in mouse genetic, lineage tracing, or flow cytometry strongly preferred.
Familiar with microscopy techniques, single-cell sequencing, and related data analysis preferred.
Record of research productivity desired.
Highly motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.

A Postdoctoral Scientist position is immediately available to work on projects related to microglia in neurodegeneration or in projects related to growth factor and tyrosine kinase receptor signaling. The Tourtellotte Lab studies the role of microglia immune function in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's Disease (Gomez et al., Nat. Aging, 5(7): 1280), and the role of growth factor signaling in peripheral neuropathy and tyrosine kinase receptor signaling (Li et al., J. Clin. Invest.,:2478; Gosh and Tourtellotte, Ann. Rev. Pathology, 16:487; Jackson et al., Development:2452). Depending on the relevant expertise and specific interests, the successful candidate will be a leader of an independent research project but can contribute to all projects in the lab with co-authorship on manuscripts. The Sharma Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for personnel to join our new and dynamic group. The mission of the Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute aims to prevent and treat the world's most prevalent diseases through cell revitalization and transplantation. Work in the laboratory of Arun Sharma, PhD, focuses on applying human induced pluripotent stem cells (hi PSCs) to model cardiovascular diseases in vitro. The lab utilizes cutting-edge technologies, including hi PSCs, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, cardiac microfluidic organ-chips and cardiac organoids in our studies. Specifically, we have used hi PSC-derived cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells) to model cardiac viral infections during COVID-19, examine developmental mechanisms underlying congenital heart disease and understand ways to alleviate cardiac toxicity caused by cancer drugs. This position offers a collaboration between Dr. Shlomo Melmed and Dr. Cuiqi Zhou.
The research focus of Dr. Shlomo Melmed is molecular pathogenesis of pituitary tumors and pituitary receptor signaling. He employs molecular, cellular, transgenic animal and human tissue models to understand the biology of these commonly encountered hormone-secreting adenomas. Dr. Zhou conducts research on the novel actions of pituitary-derived exosomes, using cellular and animal models as well as human iPSC-differentiated pituitary organoids.
Working under direct supervision, the Research Associate II performs routine and increasingly complex laboratory tasks and procedures and develops technical expertise in one or more areas relevant to research projects. The incumbent will participate in research activities involving all aspects of the research process, to include, but not limited to; investigation, technical, testing/validation of results, and report findings. The RA II lab member will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of laboratory research projects. The Associate will observe and follow safety standards and procedures, assist in preparation of data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly meetings, and assist in general laboratory maintenance. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

The Research Associate II will perform routine and increasingly complex laboratory tasks and procedures and develops technical expertise in one or more areas relevant to research projects. The Sharma Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for personnel to join our new and dynamic group. The mission of the Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute aims to prevent and treat the world's most prevalent diseases through cell revitalization and transplantation. Work in the laboratory of Arun Sharma, PhD, focuses on applying human induced pluripotent stem cells (hi PSCs) to model cardiovascular diseases in vitro. The lab utilizes cutting-edge technologies, including hi PSCs, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, cardiac microfluidic organ-chips and cardiac organoids in our studies. Specifically, we have used hi PSC-derived cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells) to model cardiac viral infections during COVID-19, examine developmental mechanisms underlying congenital heart disease and understand ways to alleviate cardiac toxicity caused by cancer drugs. Under the direction of Dr. Arun Sharma, the incumbent will be a part of a new collaborative project recently funded by ARPA-H, on the topic of predictive modeling of drug toxicities using pluripotent stem cells. The Postdoctoral Scientist may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols, and will analyze, compile, and interpret data.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
May assist in preparation of grant proposals, submissions, publications and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
Participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
Designs and performs experiments, especially in regards to stem cell culture.
Keeps appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyze the results with the Co-Principal Investigator.
May mentor/train research associates, technicians, and students.
Participation in laboratory meetings, keeping a lab notebook, performing calculations, tabulating data, summarizing methods and results of related experiments, and general lab maintenance.

Qualifications
Education:

Research in the Noble Laboratory focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms of lung inflammation and fibrosis, the role of lung stem cells in pulmonary fibrosis and the role of host defense in lung inflammation and fibrosis. We have clinical expertise in interstitial lung disease and are conducting clinical trials in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiolitis and pulmonary disease related to connective tissue disease.
The Research Associate I will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. The RA I team member will be able to perform routine cellular, molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, flow cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and staining. The incumbent will assist in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies, and filing and monitoring of documents. This position keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results, assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery, and observes safety standards and procedures. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

The Sharma Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for personnel to join our new and dynamic group. The mission of the Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute aims to prevent and treat the world's most prevalent diseases through cell revitalization and transplantation. Work in the laboratory of Arun Sharma, PhD, focuses on applying human induced pluripotent stem cells (hi PSCs) to model cardiovascular diseases in vitro. The lab utilizes cutting-edge technologies, including hi PSCs, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, cardiac microfluidic organ-chips and cardiac organoids in our studies. Specifically, we have used hi PSC-derived cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells) to model cardiac viral infections during COVID-19, examine developmental mechanisms underlying congenital heart disease and understand ways to alleviate cardiac toxicity caused by cancer drugs. In our ongoing studies, we have a unique background and interest in space biology, notably exploring ways in which stem cell biology can intersect with this emerging field. Under the direction of Dr. Arun Sharma, the incumbent will be a part of a new collaborative project recently funded by ARPA-H, on the topic of predictive modeling of drug toxicities using pluripotent stem cells. The Postdoctoral Scientist may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols, and will analyze, compile, and interpret data.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
May assist in preparation of grant proposals, submissions, publications and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
Participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
Designs and performs experiments, especially in regards to stem cell culture.
Keeps appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyze the results with the Co-Principal Investigator.
May mentor/train research associates, technicians, and students.
Participation in laboratory meetings, keeping a lab notebook, performing calculations, tabulating data, summarizing methods and results of related experiments, and general lab maintenance.
Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
Qualifications
Education:
• Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.
Experience and Skills:
Acquires technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to fiveyear post-doctoral appointment.
Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.
Demonstrated skills to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis.
Experienced in research animal husbandry and handling.
Scheduling flexibility including evening, weekend and holiday rotation commitment may be necessary. Travel may be required.
