1933

Jenkins later served as mayor when the city incorporated in 1933 and helped to develop the well and water system in Roanoke.

1962

1973

The month of May is National Historic Preservation Month! Established in 1973 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the month is meant to instill community pride.

1986

In order to meet the demands of a changing community, Roanoke County was chartered by the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1986, effectively granting the county much of the legal flexibility generally afforded to city governments.

1998

Since 1998, the Croatoan Project has researched and provided archaeological evidence to back up the theory that the colonists moved to be with, or at least interacted with, the Hatteras tribe.

2004

When John and Linda Moore purchased and gifted the building to the city of Roanoke in 2004, they requested that the building be restored to its former glory.
