1930

By 1930 Houston County had electricity, public waterworks, and had levied property taxes to support public schools.

1941

In June 1941 after much competition with other sites, the War Department announced the approval of the site sixteen miles south of Macon and just east of the railroad on what is known today as Highway 247 in Warner Robins.

The land was purchased from 47 local families, totaling 3,108 acres, for just over $97,000 and the land was donated to the Army in August 1941.

Warner Robins, city, Houston county, central Georgia, United States, 10 miles (16 km) south of Macon. It originated as the small railside village of Wellston, which rapidly developed after the establishment in 1941 of Robins Air Force Base, once the home of the 14th Air Force “Flying Tigers” and now headquarters for the Air Force Reserve Command.

1942

In September of 1942 citizens of Wellston agreed to rename the town and the following March, Warner Robins was incorporated.

Warner Robin’s First and Oldest Neighborhood of 2,000 homes in “Robins Manor,” was built in 1942, near the North Side of Commercial Circle.

1943

On March 5, 1943, the town of about 50 permanent residents was incorporated as the City of Warner Robins.

1950

By 1950 a municipal airport had been developed, the first public library was open, Boy Scout Troop 96 was ten years old, and a third courthouse had just been completed.

1954

The theatre was called Wellston Theatre until April of 1954 when it was renamed RAMA Theatre.

1958

Centerville was incorporated in 1958 and, contrary to popular belief, owes its name not to its geographical position within the State of Georgia, but its position between Macon (the seat of Bibb County) and Perry.

1959

The Myrtle Street station officially opened on October 23, 1959.

1961

Being the first fire department in the state to have 100% personnel trained in advanced first aid resulted in a certificate being presented by the American Red Cross in 1961.

1963

Being the first fire department in the state to have 100% personnel trained in advanced first aid resulted in a certificate being presented by the American Red Cross in 1961. It closed when the new fire station built at 117 Chestnut Road opened on August 11, 1963 soon followed by another station at 1111 Green Street on November 17, 1963, which would later become the Fire Department Headquarters.

1977

Further expansion took place in 1977 with the addition of new programs.

1979

1979 saw the opening of our fourth fire station located on Carl Vinson Parkway.

1982

Becoming a city employee in 1982, Chief Singletary worked his way up through the ranks to reach this position.

1983

In May 1983, Chief Wood was appointed Director of Public Safety.

1985

Intensive emergency medical assistance training began in February 1985 and in April that year, a full-time communication division was established.

1987

A first response vehicle for grass and trash fires was put into service in March 1987, and in December an emergency response vehicle was purchased for the Assistant Chiefs in charge of shifts to use while on duty.

With the growth of the city, another fire station was opened on Sandy Run Road in September 1987.

1989

The Warner Robins Fire Department began aggressive fund-raising efforts in August 1989 to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

1990

In 1990, the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter opened to showcase the agricultural achievements of Georgia’s young people.

1991

In December 1991, the Houston County 911 Center opened and assumed dispatching duties for the fire department.

1998

Our first aerial apparatus, a 1998 E-One Quint, was purchased in February 1998 for over $400,000.

1999

Station 6 on Osigian Boulevard opened in March 1999.

Following many years with the Warner Robins Fire Department, Chief West retired in October 1999.

2004

After the sale of Station 4 on Carl Vinson to Houston County, the fire department was in need of a new Station 4 which opened on Houston Road June 23, 2004.

2006

Continuing to grow, the seventh station was opened on Lake Joy Road on December 12, 2006.

2007

Having outgrown the existing headquarters building, a new fire station and headquarters was built at 111 North Pleasant Hill Road and became operational January 9, 2007.

On February 17, 2007, an official grand opening and dedication ceremony was held for the new headquarters.

2013

Growth has continued abundantly since 2013.

2015

Growth has continued abundantly since 2013. Thus, Station 8 was constructed and began operations on July 6, 2015.
