Columbia College Hollywood company history timeline

1952

Columbia College Hollywood was founded in 1952 in the MacArthur Park neighborhood of Los Angeles as a branch campus of Columbia College in Chicago.

1953

The college was originally established in 1953 as a Los Angeles satellite campus of Columbia College Chicago.

1959

In 1959, Columbia College Hollywood separated from the Chicago institution to operate as an independent, private, non-profit college.

1970

In its early years, Columbia College Hollywood grew alongside the film and television industries, eventually moving from MacArthur Park in 1970 to a larger space on La Brea Ave in central Hollywood.

1997

The college established its current campus in 1997 when it moved into the former headquarters of Panavision in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles.

2018

In 2018, the college established the Flashpoint Chicago branch campus and expanded its program offerings when it acquired the former Tribeca Flashpoint College, a private creative media institution located in Chicago, Illinois.

2020

In August 2020, the Flashpoint Chicago campus moved from its former location in the Burnham Center to classroom and studio space on the Roosevelt University campus located at 425 South Wabash Avenue in the Chicago Loop.
