Transmission System Operator

Transmission System Operators play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System (BES). In this role, you will take and/or direct timely real-time actions to maintain system reliability during both normal and emergency conditions. Operators monitor system elements, respond to disturbances, support field personnel, and help maintain voltage and power flow across the transmission network. You will utilize Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to control equipment, prepare and execute switching orders, coordinate with internal/external stakeholders, and maintain accurate operational logs. This is a hands-on, operationally critical role with clear processes, structured training, and opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor elements of the Bulk Electric System and respond to status changes, disturbances, and system events.
Make appropriate notifications during emergencies, weather events, and operational changes.
Utilize reactive resources to maintain voltage schedules and regulate power flows among interconnected entities.
Prepare and implement switching orders to safely isolate equipment for maintenance.
Provide clear verbal instructions to field personnel engaged in switching operations.
Control transmission and distribution equipment through SCADA systems.
Maintain detailed operational logs and reports for regulatory and internal compliance.
Support storm response and other emergency activities as needed.
Completion of the Dominion Energy System Operations qualification program within 18 months of hire/transfer.
Work Schedule
This position follows a structured 12-week rotational schedule:
4 days per week
14 night shifts per rotation
23-26 day shifts, depending on the occurrence of a long break
Scheduled training days included in each rotation
13-day unpaid break between rotations, with the option to pick up additional work during this period if desired
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Related experience in electrical, mechanical, operational, or utility environments (such as transmission operations, power generation, substation work, or industrial systems).
Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures.

is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Technician/Treatment System Operator for employment in Richmond, VA. In this full-time role as an AECOM Field Services (AFS) employee, you will primarily work with the Site Manager to support remedial operations, maintenance, and monitoring projects at client facilities.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in general operations and environmental remediation/sampling. Hands-on mechanical experience and interests are preferred (e.g., construction, pump maintenance, pipe assembly, and instrumentation calibrations). The successful candidate will be part of a team operating a groundwater extraction and treatment system. The groundwater extraction and treatment system is designed to capture groundwater, remove organic chemicals by treatment on-site, and discharge the treated water. The process starts with the collection of the groundwater utilizing extraction wells. The water is then transferred to a central treatment system. Treatment by precipitation, settling, particulate filtration, and granular activated carbon (GAC) filtration takes place prior to effluent discharge.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Routine fieldwork (such as environmental multi-media sampling, operations, maintenance, and inspection of groundwater treatment equipment) working under close supervision and at times alone.
Sampling groundwater Influent and Effluent from groundwater treatment systems primarily for volatile organic compounds. Preparing chains-of-custody and sample cooler loading in preparation for transport to contracted analytical laboratories.
Performing various operations and maintenance activities associated with remediation systems involving extraction of organics, performing recovery system maintenance as needed, groundwater monitoring, and compilation of field data.
Assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment (sampling devices and pumps), inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
Driving AECOM-leased site vehicles.
Control treatment plant machines and equipment to treat water for industrial use: Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treating plant.
Monitor that specified amounts of chemicals are being supplied as required such as polymer into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to treat the water.
Operate valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities.
Monitor the pumping of treated water through the effluent / outfall.
Monitors panelboard and adjusts controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water.
Cleans tanks and filter beds, using backwashing.
Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
Tests water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities, using colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter.
Operate centrifuge as required to process solids.
Participate in amending / developing procedures (as needed) for the operation of the treatment facility.
Adhere to the site's General Site Conditions.
Adhering to the plant's O&M, Waste Management and Health and Safety Plan
Oversee contractors as directed.
Capable of functioning with spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.

About The Navys Advanced Electronics / Computer Field (AECF) offers extensive training in electronics, computer systems, radar, communications, and weapons fire control systems, including the Navys advanced missile systems and Aegis radar. These technicians are essential to the ships Combat Systems department, ensuring readiness for combat operations across the fleet.
Responsibilities
As an Electronics Technician (ET) or Fire Controlman (FC), you may:
Maintain and repair radar, communication, and navigation equipment.
Operate, maintain, and repair fire control radars, mainframe computers, large screen displays, LANs, weapon control consoles, and automatic gun systems.
Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems used in weapons systems.
Support combat systems readiness aboard aircraft carriers, Aegis cruisers, and other surface ships.
Work Environment
ETs and FCs serve on fleet units worldwide and at shore-based repair facilities. Expect assignments aboard ships, at remote stations, and in technical repair shops. Work is highly technical, requiring precision and teamwork.

Data Center Operations Engineering - Project Assistant:
The DCOE Project Assistant supports the DCOE management team and provides administrative support in critical infrastructure environments essential to the client's business. This can include assessing the risk and providing analysis of the client's Infrastructure in a sensitive, new capabilities lab environment with rapidly shifting priorities. The focus is on essential services to highly technical, emerging technologies and capabilities. Strong attention to detail and effective documentation skills are critical to success in this position.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to DCOE team members
Collaborate with various data center operation teams
Manage and provide written follow-ups on weekly WebEx calls pertaining to vendor support, training, etc.
Manage existing DCOE programs such as Vendor Laptop, Service Bulletin / RCA notification process, Power DB, etc.
Develop and manage current reporting documents and spreadsheets.
Provide follow-up on ongoing projects
Develop and manage the DCOE team's current folder structures, such as ARC Flash assessments and approved documentation folders
Provide document management as directed or
Coordinate vendor services and schedules
Work with vendors procuring services
Provide program review processes such as equipment minimum standards, site rules, etc.
Perform work-related tasks as directed by the DCOE management team
Attending meetings, managing, and setting up meetings via WebEx as needed
Manage test equipment, ensuring quality & calibration
Order parts and inventory/ship equipment for a training facility
Key Qualifications:
Experience operating mac OS, Windows, and Linux
Ability to interact with engineering teams, operational teams, leadership teams, and vendors
Experience processing RMA parts and maintaining and updating spare parts inventory
Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights
Responsible for ensuring government regulatory compliance, OSHA, EHS, and other similar programs with direction from their management team
Experience operating up to 50 lbs. of heavy-load movement equipment (pallet jacks, chassis lifts, etc.)
Flexibility to work non-business hours (shifts), including weekends and/or holidays
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
