Role and Responsibilities Lay and install bricks, blocks, stone, and other masonry materials according to blueprints, drawings, and project specifications. Prepare and clean surfaces, ensuring proper bonding materials and techniques are used for all installations. Measure and cut materials to fit project requirements, ensuring precision and accuracy in all aspects of the work. Mix and apply mortar, grout, and other bonding agents to secure masonry materials in place. Work with a variety of masonry materials, including brick, stone, concrete blocks, and cultured stone, ensuring correct installation and finishing. Ensure that all work complies with safety codes, building codes, and project specifications. Repair and maintain masonry structures, including patching, re-pointing, and replacing damaged materials. Assist in the installation of decorative masonry elements, such as arches, columns, and veneers. Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment. Work alongside other trades and contractors to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects. Maintain and care for tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order. Maintain a clean and organized work area, disposing of waste materials properly. Keep track of materials used and report inventory needs to supervisors. Qualifications and Education Requirements Completion of an apprenticeship or journeyman program in bricklaying or masonry. 5+ years of experience as a bricklayer or mason in a construction environment.
