Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess high school diploma or equivalent with reading, comprehension and writing ability at 12th grade level or higher.
Minimum of five years of cooking experience in institutional, hotel or upscale dining required. Minimum of three years' management experience in food services or related fields.
Ability to work independently and with a group and follow specific instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to follow recipes. Ability to prepare and cook entrees.
Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Ability to safely operate all job-related food service equipment.
Demonstrate knowledge of proper food handling and infection control.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Assist the Food Services Team to manage the inventory of food and beverages, equipment, and supplies. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform cooking and food preparation duties, following the daily menu.

Cook Job Summary:
The Cook reports to the Chef or Chef Manager. The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving breakfast, lunch and/or catered events. The Cook may be required to operate equipment, including but not limited to an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, and chef's knives. Cook Essential Functions and Key Tasks:
Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and other equipment.
Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, rotating stock and following food company labeling & dating procedures.
Monitor, cook and prepare foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or utilization of food thermometers.
Responsible for preparation of stations, as directed, according to company guidelines.
Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
Season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes with guidance from supervisor, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare for consumption.
Carve, trim and prepare meats and seafood for hot or cold service.
May bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries.
May wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment.
Compile and maintain records of food usage.
May assist with inventory.
Follow food specification amounts provided by supervisor. Assist in forecasting of preparation needs.
Prepare and serve food to customers in a timely manner.
May assist in supporting culinary staff at numerous stations as directed.
Communicate with supervisor regarding kitchen equipment/supply needs.
Adhere to and promote company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, uniform guidelines, and productivity.
Provide excellent customer service to include being attentive, approachable, greeting and thanking customers.

About the Job
Landscape Team Members: You'll be on a crew of 2-3, responsible for trimming, cleanups, plantings, mulching, edging, blowing, soil work, seeding, and weeding for 1-3 properties daily
Lawn Care Technicians: You'll be working independently, responsible for treating your customers' lawns for weed and pest control for 10-20 properties each day
Hardscape Team Leads: You'll be running a crew of 2-3, responsible for installation of outdoor living features, like patios, retaining walls, outdoor lighting, fire pits and plant installations for 1-3 properties each week

The cook is directly responsible to the Food Production and Operations Supervisors or to Management in charge of the cooking and overall responsibility of the assigned position which includes food preparation, presentation and service.

Cook Key Duties
Prepares food according to standardized recipes to provide residents with consistently accurate, tasteful, and cost-effective meals.
Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlines standards, ensuring that the food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items for quality control.
Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintain standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food- handling procedures.
Will manage the kitchen in the absence of the Food Service Director.
Perform other job-related duties as they become required.
Cook Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
ServSafe Certification preferred or will become ServSafe certified after hired.
Previous management or supervisory experience.
