A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COOK
As a Cook, you spend your day performing complex food preparation work and entry level routine cashier responsibilities. Your work typically involves preparing, seasoning, and cooking food, and maintaining inventories and records of food consumption along with compiling and tabulating data, checking documents for accuracy and maintaining files. Your job is essential to the city, you will inspect food preparation equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure sanitary conditions. You will assist in making recommendations for improving cooking and kitchen operations and in reviewing and planning menus to determine types and quantities of food to be prepared. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. * Able to obtain Food Handler's permit.
