County Of Hawaii company history timeline

1903

On November 3, 1903 the first election was held.

In 1903 Hawai’i’s second legislature passed Act 31 which provided for the organization of County governments.

1905

Hawaii county was created in 1905.

1968

Beginning in 1968 the voters elected its first mayor, Shunichi Kimura, who had been the chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

1974

1974 Bruce McCall (Kimura’s managing director became mayor after Kimura resigned to become a 3rd Circuit Court judge.)

1984

1984 Megumi Kon (Matayoshi’s managing director became mayor after Matayoshi resigned to run for Hawaii State Senate.)

2003

Recognized as Hawaiʻi’s #1 Fastest Growing Company in Hawaiʻi by Pacific Business NewsJuly 11, 2003 After only two years, HFA is recognized as the #1 Fastest Growing Company in Hawaiʻi by Pacific Business News.

Supporting the Waimea (Kauaʻi) CommunityJanuary 2021 In early January, the Waimea community was impacted by a landslide that left 2 dozen families stranded.

Launched the Kaukau 4 Keiki ProgramJuly 21, 2021 Together with Vibrant Hawaiʻi, HFA supported a new food program with the USDA and DOE to feed over 7,000 keiki during the summer.
