A Brief Overview
The SecurityOfficer is responsible for patrolling the hospital and grounds to ensure a safe, secure environment for Associates, patients and their family members, and other visitors to the hospital. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
Patrols hospital, parking and/or assigned area to ensure safety and security for Associates, patients and visitors to the hospital.
Assumes mobile responsibilities, i.e., van, shuttle.
Provides customer service and performs general duties.
Uses proper communication skills for radio and telephone.
Prepares daily activity reports, Incident Reports, Offense Reports, Fire Reports, etc.
Maintains property of patients, lost and found property, and documentation on money escorts.
Maintains appearance and equipment.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience Requirements
Preferred - Security or law enforcement 1-3 years
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
Required - Class D Driver License -Tennessee - Tennessee Motor Vehicle

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of security and criminal investigation methods and operations commensurate with education/experience.
Ability to carry out assigned duties with integrity and honesty.
Skill in applying appropriate behavior when greeting and assisting members of the public.
Ability to understand and prepare written materials at a moderate level, such as Incident Reports, as would be acquired through completion of high school.
Ability to communicate verbally with Associates and visitors to the hospital.
Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
Ability to organize multiple tasks and maintain control of work flow.
Ability to maintain working relationship with co-workers.

Physical Demands
The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
Must have good balance and coordination.
The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).
Periodically to frequently use physical force to resolve an emergency situation.
Ability to successfully participate and complete departmental specific required training that includes physical, hands on training and competencies.

Conducts, attends, and oversees staff meetings as necessary with the hospital Security Services Management Team, Pediatrics and Urgent Care Management Team, and Houston Police Department Supervisors
Coordinates training, i.e., orientation, PC computer, software, and other necessary training as coordinated with Security Services leadership team, Community Patrol Officers and Houston Police Department Officers
Remains on-call and available on an as needed basis for emergencies, emergency personnel needs, scheduling, and policy questions and procedures, etc., when not on campus
Maintains daily schedule for all Houston Police Officers and Community Officers, ensuring full coverage, being aware of special events requiring additional security, and ensuring security staff are in compliance with all Houston Police Department and Security Services general orders

What We're Looking For
Baylor University is seeking the Police Officer position to support the mission and vision of Baylor University within the Department of Public Safety and reporting to one of the Patrol Lieutenants. This position will work closely with the other members of the Baylor PD staff, Baylor faculty and staff, students, guests of Baylor, and external first responders. The position enforces federal and state law and Baylor University policies while patrolling campus. The successful candidate will have the ability to relate to all members of the Baylor community, a desire to help others, the ability to demonstrate good judgment under pressure, and demonstrate integrity in all job duties.
All applicants shall possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Preference will be given to candidates with an Associate Degree from an accredited Junior College or 60 college hours from an accredited College or University. Additionally, applicants must be a minimum of 22 years of age at the time of their commissioning with the Baylor University Police Department, and possess a current Texas Driver's license or be eligible to obtain a Texas Driver's license.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Applicants who have had more than 2 moving citations in the past two years will not be considered
If the applicant's driver's license has ever been suspended, that will be an immediate dis-qualifier.
Applicants must have active peace officer certification with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Cadets who are currently attending the Basic Peace Officer Course in a Texas licensed policy academy are eligible to apply.
Texas out of state candidates or military personnel who are eligible to challenge the Texas Peace Office Licensing Exam are also eligible to apply.
Applicants must meet all Texas Commission on Law enforcement licensing standards set forth in the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Statutes and Rules Handbook Chapter 217; §217.1. Minimum Standards for Enrollment and Initial Licensure.

The Police Officer is a sworn officer responsible for law enforcement, security, loss prevention, and customer service duties. They provide a visible presence to deter hospital threats. * Participates in crime prevention strategies and special programs as assigned.
* Enforces state laws, policies, procedures, and forwards the mission of the organization.
* Transports legal documents, valuables, medical instruments, and supplies. Ensures the safe and timely transfer of valued articles.
* Stays current with rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines affecting the department and organization. Stays updated on security developments by attending training and reading security literature and journals.

+ Completes initial investigations and follow-up investigations as assigned.
+ Participates in crime prevention strategies and special programs as assigned.
+ Enforces state laws, policies, procedures, and forwards the mission of the organization.
+ Transports legal documents, valuables, medical instruments, supplies other secure articles as assigned to ensure the safe and timely transfer of valued articles.
+ Stays current with applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact or govern the department and organization. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the security field by attending training, reading security literature and professional journals.
