This position disseminates confidential information to department units and other law enforcement agencies. Position Responsibilities: * Accurately evaluate, enter, and transcribe confidential incident reports into the Police Records Management System and review or modify entries as needed. * Review and verify accuracy of police reports, copy, and distribute paperwork to appropriate criminal investigation units and other law enforcement agencies. * Disseminate information received over the national teletype system to appropriate police personnel. * Receive, sort, time stamp and distribute all incoming documents and mail. Assist department employees, other law enforcement personnel and occasionally the public in person or by telephone. Required Qualifications: Six months of office support experience (or a combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class). Desired Qualifications: * Two or more years of office experience in a fast-paced environment. * Proficient in data entry work. * Ability to understand and apply procedures, instructions, and regulations. * Able to demonstrate successful problem-solving skills, reliable judgment and provide excellent customer service. * Ability to type 35 WPM accurately. * Ability to pay attention to detail and perform repetitive tasks accurately, sometimes under tight deadlines. * Must maintain confidentiality of information and documents. * Ability to perform work under strict adherence to guidelines.
