You will be responsible for managing and supporting a diverse portfolio of database technologies across 400+ instances, including Sybase, MySQL, Vertica, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, DB2, Hive, and ClickHouse. These roles will focus exclusively on supporting Hyve Solutions' database infrastructure. Other Possible Locations: Greenville, SC and Clearwater, FL Key Responsibilities Perform advanced database administration tasks for Sybase, MySQL, Vertica, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL. This includes installation, configuration, replication setup, version upgrades, patch management, performance monitoring, and advanced troubleshooting. Support both on-prem and cloud-hosted environments (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, etc.). Forecast storage, IOPS, and compute requirements for current and future workloads. Implement and maintain scalable, resilient database infrastructure to support business growth and high-throughput applications. Implement and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies, including clustering, Always On availability groups, logical and physical replication, backup/restore validation, and geo-redundancy. Conduct DR drills and BCP testing. Perform database schema and object design, DDL scripting, stored procedure/function development, testing, and deployment using version-controlled pipelines. Implement routine maintenance plans including reorgs, update stats, and index optimization. Review and optimize complex SQL and database code in Sybase, MySQL, Vertica, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL. Implement query rewrites, index tuning, and system-level tuning (buffer pool sizing, parallelism, I/O tuning) to resolve deep performance bottlenecks. Support application developers with database analysis, ER modeling, schema changes, controlled test data setup, data masking, bulk data loads, legacy data restoration, and SQL tuning. Actively participate in code reviews and performance testing. Collaborate on database design and optimization with development teams, including indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and workload balancing. Recommend improvements based on profiling and AWR-like reports. Conduct regular database maintenance, patching, and security hardening, including encryption (at rest/in-transit), auditing, user role reviews, vulnerability scanning, and timely remediation. Lead incident response and root cause analysis for database-related outages. Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts (e.g., in Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Ansible) to streamline database operations, backups, deployments, and monitoring tasks. Integrate with CI/CD pipelines for DevOps alignment. Enforce best practices and execute large-scale database upgrades and migrations, including cross-platform (e.g., Solaris to Linux, Sybase to MySQL, SAP to CIS, or on-prem to cloud), version upgrades, collation changes, and data movement across heterogeneous systems. Validate with rollback strategies and cutover rehearsal. Enforce database development and operational standards, including naming conventions, CI checks, DR documentation, and security baselines. Maintain database to compliance with industry regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX) and internal audit requirements. Education: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Experience: - Minimum 5 years of experience with enterprise-level database environments. SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Information Technology Operations Manager, the Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the MS SQL server database infrastructure and dependent systems. The Senior DBA acts as the primary technical resource for database integrity, backup and restoration, and performance monitoring. Application Review: Priority will be given to applications received by December 5, 2025. The position will remain open until filled. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Essential Functions Administers, monitors, maintains, upgrades and troubleshoots existing database infrastructure across development, testing, and production database environments. Designs, implements, and improves new database infrastructure components, applications, interfaces, replications, SSIS packages, stored procedures, etc. Develops, documents, and maintains enterprise best practices standards and procedures for database creation, upgrades, patches, backups, restoration, replication, index maintenance, tuning, monitoring, alerting, and security. Performs and monitors regular data imports from disparate internal and external systems, ranging from fully automated to manual processes, in order to meet the MTS operational reporting requirements. Performs required server and software patches in conjunction with Datacenter Operations schedules and System Administrators (may require after-hours support). Establishes and maintains security and access controls for MTS database systems, applications, data, indexes, database services, replication packages, and processes in conjunction with Datacenter Operations and System Administrators. Creates and maintains documentation for databases, database infrastructure and database processes and procedures.
