Job Summary
The Bus Driver operates a passenger bus to transport Anchorage School District students along a designated route.
Job Requirements
The following are required:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Be 21 years of age and meet all other requirements for school bus drivers as set forth by state regulations.
If given a conditional offer of employment, must pass a post offer/pre-employment physical capacities assessment before placement in the position. Click here to view the physical capacities requirements for this position.
Pass the paid training course provided by the ASD Transportation Department and obtain the required Alaska commercial driver's license (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsements. ASD will assist with the cost of obtaining the license.
The following are preferred:
Previous experience with large displacement vehicles.
Knowledge of Alaska state laws and regulations pertaining to school bus operation.
Essential Job Functions
Practices safe and defensive driving techniques and maintains both a good driving record and a valid Alaska commercial driver's license.
Operates passenger busses over a designated route according to an established time schedule, potentially during extremely hazardous weather and road conditions.
Stops at designated points to pick up or drop off students of all ages.
Assists special needs students on and off the bus.
Transports students on special activity events and field trips.
Maintains order on the bus by effectively conveying instructions or explanations and enforcing rules, sometimes during difficult circumstances.
Completes student conduct reports and cites students for disciplinary action in case of extreme or repeated unruliness. Reports and discusses serious disciplinary and unsafe acts of students with principal.
Learns the geographical location of fire and emergency aid stations and follows designated emergency first aid procedures when needed.
Interprets and follows verbal and written instructions and writes reports.
Checks vehicle for proper maintenance and safety and reports equipment malfunction.
Files accident reports when necessary.
Keeps trip records and conducts passenger counts.
Maintains bus in clean and orderly condition.
Operates two-way radio to communicate with other busses and central dispatch station.
Promotes and maintains good public relations.

The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

Service Delivery Specialist's (SDS's) primary duties are to focus on the efficient and accurate completion of work required to ensure customer service once the sale has been made. Provide support to sales staff, engineering, and field services. Interact with ACS customers to determine and recommend devices and services that meet the customer's needs.

Examples of Job Duties
Prepare Orders for Field/CO Presentation.
Clear and close troubles and orders through all associated applications including billing.
Email inquiries for order or trouble scope and follow through to completion.
Provision service orders to switch customers between exchange carriers for Local & Wireless Number Portability.
Process service orders using computer-based billing and facility record systems.
Perform record maintenance and research duties associated with "911" records and address research functions.
Service Delay Order creation for service relief through multiple departments.
Examine workflow systems for order completeness and accuracy of weekly and monthly reporting.
Perform record research provides guidance and support to internal and external customers.
Provide helpdesk assistance to internal customers.
Create reports and complete audits as required.
Provide training and mentoring of new individuals to the team.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Must have a high school diploma. A minimum of two years of customer service experience including order preparation and processing. Analytical skills are shown in processing information and entering data into a computer-based records system with at least one year of experience using computers and computer software applications.
Certifications and Licenses Required
Some levels may require you to possess and maintain an Alaska Drivers License.
Additional Job Requirements
External applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment suitability assessment and drug test.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment Data Entry test with 5500 keystrokes per hour with 10% or less error rate or type 33 words per minute.
