Glass Road Family Dentistry is a warm, patient-centric dental practice focused on improving the dental health of our patients. Under the direction of the Dentist, performs duties such as: preparing the patient for the treatment, assisting the dentist in performing their treatment to the patient in restorative dentistry or oral surgery, preparing materials and equipment for treatment and have them ready for the dentist's use, taking x-rays and assist the dentist in laboratory work. Our Dental Assistants are an integral part of our patient-care team and overall customer experience. Our ideal candidate is reliable, highly skilled, and customer-service orientated. Preferred candidates have 2+ years' experience in a dental assisting role as well as experience with front desk responsibilities. Job Duties: Assist the dentist in all dental procedures: Prepare patients for treatment, hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices Prepare tray setups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as needed Prepare materials for making impressions and restorations Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment Obtain dental history and/or records from patient and ensure that the health history is updated for all returning patients; Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care; Record patient charting and all doctor notes as directed by the doctor Greet patients in person and via phone; check in patients for their appointments; assist with scheduling and treatment coordination Process co-pays and answer general practice or insurance questions Call patients to fill schedule vacancies Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; proof of completion of radiation safety course Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) training through accredited program preferred except where statutory requirements require certification

Responsibilities: · Provides chairside assistance to patients cared for by faculty, residents, and dental students. · Assist in preparation of operatories, surgical trays, equipment, patient records, and supplies as needed in patient care. · Seat patients upon arrival and prepare them for screenings, post ops and surgical procedures. · Assists with IV sedation, surgical procedures, and patient recovery. · Monitor patient vital signs under Dr. and R.N. supervision. · Plays key role in supporting the patient airway during surgical procedures while multitasking with their dental assistant duties (anticipating the doctor's needs in the passing of instruments, applying suction as needed, etc.), closely observing the respiratory effort and listening to the patient monitors.
