Performs laboratory procedures such as mixing impression material for dentures and assists in the clinical procedures of prosthetic dentistry. Develops and mounts routine radiographs. Assists in maintaining dental charts and records dental findings. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications. Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices. Inventories and orders supplies to maintain proper levels. Attends training and meetings as required. DENTAL ASSISTANT REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATION Minimum of one-year dental assistant experience required. High school diploma or equivalent. Must have current CPR certification. Responsibilities Prepare, decontaminate, disinfect and sterilize instruments. Manages general house cleaning tasks. Maintains plaster trap and lab counter areas. Performs routine maintenance of dental equipmentautoclave, statim, ultrasonic cleaner, etc. Weekly spore testing submission and recording per company policy and procedure. Submission of broken instruments and handpieces for repair. Maintain the MSDS binder. Maintain an appropriate stock of dental supplies in each operatory. Document and maintain accurate sterilization records. Collect, store and ensure proper disposal of biohazards and sharps waste. Be knowledgeable of spill containment and cleanup Qualifications Completed a program certified by the Commission on Dental Accreditation Current BLS
