Job Summary: The Plan Designer is primarily responsible for working with developers, builders, and homeowners to design buildable, attractive, and code compliant construction plans to request. Key Responsibilities: Work in 3D program SoftPlan or Revit to produce buildable plans for design, estimating, and final technical construction documents with efficiency and accuracy. Travel to job sites to measure in order to design additions or remodels when necessary. Size and plan for structural members. Collaborate with custom homebuilders and multiple developers to design new construction and addition plans. Meet with homeowners for custom home design to produce working and final construction blueprints. Ability to share vast product knowledge of building material options. Work closely with building material and cabinetry sales on projects. Create connections between prospective clients and contractors. Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Trade or technical school certificate or Bachelor's Degree is desired. Three to five or more years of design or related experience is preferred. Ability to analyze technical problems, determine root causes and develop remediation strategies for permanent resolutions. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare layouts and basic design drawings and/or CAD models of new and improved products, subassemblies and components. Assist the Engineer in charge with the analysis of research and engineering problems. Work from general specifications to create original layouts of all but the most complex products. Design components for manufacturing processes such as die casting, plastic injection molding, sheet metal stampings and machined parts. Make detail drawings and/or CAD models of components and subassemblies. Understand and be able to apply geometric and form tolerance dimensioning with guidance from team members. Assist in the acquisition and analysis of information and test data pertaining to research concepts, products, designs, subassemblies and components. Prepare drawings, product BOM's and Change Notices for release and/or change distribution. Analyze prototype and competitive tools and measure and record data and information for evaluation by Engineers. Perform some testing requiring little or no instrumentation. Education and Experience Requirements Requires a technical Associate Degree and a minimum of 1 year experience in designing, drafting and computer modeling and related technical assignments. Reports to Lead Game Designer What will you do? * Learn and master the game vision as set by the Lead Game Designer and Product Director; * Learn, master and design improvements for our engine and engine tooling. * Work with the game and level design teams to understand their tooling needs to prototype and implement their work; * Help bring the tooling requests and engine improvements to the engine team in a clear and structured manner; * Help test and improve the tooling that is created; * Create and maintain documentation for knowledge sharing; * Help improve overall implementation process for the game design and level design teams. * Technical support for other designers and occasionally help other game designers with implementation tasks when needed.
