Job Summary
Join a talented group of more than 80 Morrison Healthcare dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics. RDs participate in research and quality improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community service experiences. This part-time 24 hr/week position will provide high-quality, evidence-based nutrition services to University of Virginia students. The role is in-person (M, Tu, Th), based in the Medical Services clinic within the state-of-the-art Student Health and Wellness (SHW) building, which opened in Fall 2021.
The position will primarily consist of one-on-one outpatient care for a diverse university student population. This role will work with a wide range of nutrition concerns and collaborate with another part-time RD specializing in eating disorders.
This position is ideal for an experienced Registered Dietitian with a strong clinical background who embraces a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach. While working on-site at SHW, the RD will operate with a high degree of independence alongside the medical team and will also be part of the broader UVA Health RD team, providing access to a strong professional network, collaboration opportunities, and ongoing support for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides medical nutrition therapy including nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for the patient population
Follows all guidelines as outlined within the Company Diet Manual and the Clinical Nutrition Policies & Procedures Manual
Complies with all regulatory standards to include federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies

This full-time position offers a balanced and well-rounded experience by splitting your time across two adult inpatient services: Adult Acute Care (20 hours/week) and Adult Nutrition Support Medicine (20 hours/week). You will work closely with nursing, licensed independent practitioners (LIPs), therapies, case management, and social work to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
* Deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and individualized nutrition care to adult patients (18+) in the inpatient setting as part of an interdisciplinary team.
* Partner effectively with LIPs, offering confident and proactive recommendations to optimize clinical outcomes.
* Manage enteral and parenteral nutrition independently, including calorie goals, macronutrient adjustments, and electrolyte/fluid considerations.
* Maintain clear, thorough, and timely documentation within UVA's integrated electronic health record (EHR) system.
* Participate in research, QI initiatives, case reviews, and internal education.
* Foster a supportive team culture that values autonomy, flexibility, and evidence-based practice.
Required Qualifications:
* Current credential as a Registered Dietitian / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN)
* Master's degree or higher in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Health Education, or a closely related field
* Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement
* Specialty Certification as a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) (or willingness to pursue)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Minimum 2 years of professional experience providing medical nutrition therapy, ideally with EN/PN management
* Familiarity with electronic health record systems (E.g. Epic) and documentation standards
* Demonstrated ability to educate and empower patients and caregivers in the inpatient setting

**Job Summary**
Join a talented group of more than 80 Morrison Healthcare dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics. This part-time 24 hr/week position will provide high-quality, evidence-based nutrition services to University of Virginia students. The role is in-person (M, Tu, Th), based in the Medical Services clinic within the state-of-the-art Student Health and Wellness (SHW) building, which opened in Fall 2021.
The position will primarily consist of one-on-one outpatient care for a diverse university student population. This role will work with a wide range of nutrition concerns and collaborate with another part-time RD specializing in eating disorders.
This position is ideal for an experienced Registered Dietitian with a strong clinical background who embraces a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach. While working on-site at SHW, the RD will operate with a high degree of independence alongside the medical team and will also be part of the broader UVA Health RD team, providing access to a strong professional network, collaboration opportunities, and ongoing support for professional growth.
