POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Program Director and Program Assistant, this role is responsible for delivering supervision, skill development, and personal care support to clients participating in the program. The Childcare Parenting Specialist will assist with the Parenting Skills Program, a family centered program, which has the goal of helping parents to provide a healthy and safe environment for their children and to maximize their children's emotional and cognitive development. North County Serenity House, A Program of HealthRIGHT 360 was founded in 1966 to provide substance use disorder services in the community. North County Serenity House provides a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, using evidence-based and best practices that recognize and account for the role that trauma frequently plays in substance use and criminal histories of women. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders. Peer Specialist Overnight are responsible for maintaining and assessing the safety and security of the program and residents throughout the night while providing a supportive treatment environment. Through effective communication, Peer Specialist Overnight relay relevant information to other members of the interdisciplinary team and performs crisis intervention as needed. Peer Specialist Overnight ensure that the treatment environment is safe and welcoming. Key Responsibilities Remains alert and awake during the entire overnight shift. Updates tracking log with newly enrolled and discharged participants and sends to the appropriate departments before the end of the shift. Completes an absent without leave (AWOL) and AWOL retraction reports as needed. Updates bed roster when needed to ensure all participants are in the correct bed. Check all UA results for the day and send out email with positive and negative results. Overnight monitor will support the medical team when needed to ensure participant medication is securely stored and properly accounted for. North County Serenity House Residential Program provides a gender responsive, trauma informed approach to assist our participants in recovery, relationships and relapse prevention. Our comprehensive program includes therapy, psycho education classes, counseling groups, advocacy, onsite daycare, homeless supportive services and exit planning. We believe in individualizing participants' treatment based on their need and what works best for them. Our hope for every woman is that they are able to improve their quality of life, establish a support system and develop healthy coping skills. Peer Support Staff have experience or personal knowledge of behavioral health issues and services. Supports participant and family to assist in learning new skills and helping to link to community services. Works closely with treatment team to support participant and family in their treatment and in preparing for post-treatment. Key Responsibilities Provides support by drawing on own experiences and professional skills to build a trusting relationship with participants. Serves as a mentor and role-model to participants. Provides consultation to treatment team members from a professional perspective support professional effectiveness and empower the participants we serve. Advocate for participant needs and participates in treatment planning. Research and share information about community resources that will assist participants both during and after treatment. Maintains confidentiality of all participants. Provides input to develop and improve program services.
