Doro Inc company history timeline

1903

Built in 1903-04, evaluations for the building identify architecture and commerce as areas of local historic significance.

1938

Growing to become one of the country’s largest fixtures concerns, Doro manufactured and installed all fixtures in many Kress locations, including making counters for a Miami store in 1938 made of French walnut with fronts of imported African bubinga wood and imported zebra wood trimming.

2014

"Our goal is to restore the building so the community can enjoy a piece of our city's history and to promote economic development in downtown Jacksonville," new owner Jacques Klempf said in a statement issued by his office and published by The Florida Times-Union in July 2014.

In 2014, the main exterior facade, of structures of similar scale and age to Doro’s oldest buildings was preserved and incorporated into a new four-story, 105-room Hampton Inn & Suites hotel.
