Job Description
This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all of Electrical systems and equipment including planned maintenance, installation and modifications.
Maintain and repair all electrical systems including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, electrical system installation and temporary power installations.
Ensure adherence to all OSHA and NEC codes and regulations, follow internal safety policies and procedures.
Conduct routine preventative maintenance on all equipment as assigned. Install wiring and devices.
Operate and maintain in-house lighting control systems.
May be responsible for assisting with the setup, tear down and distribution of temporary power for shows and events held on property.
Perform safety checks all electrical devices.
Maintain an adequate stock of parts and ensure cleanliness in assigned spaces.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Journeymen electrician certification.
Must have five years of verifiable commercial experience.
Must be able to read Engineering drawings and technical literature.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure and technical manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or colleagues of the organization.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

**What You'll Do as Electrician I:**
+ Support government tool service trucks and schedule tool trucks for support of minor Fleet maintenance i.e., hose repair, corrosion control, small tool issue etc.
+ Assists in keeping an accurate inventory of tools checked out to the Fleet home.
+ Assist in accumulation and delivering of Calibrated Equipment to the CAL Lab.
+ Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of tools checked out to the Fleet home ported in San Diego, including transportation and welding facilities.
+ Provide proper usage of tools to ship's force personnel to include tool preparation safety features/devices, environmental safety measures and proper operation.
+ Assist in checking out tools to ship's force personnel on an on-loan basis.
+ Assists in maintaining a detailed inventory of equipment checked out and a continuous chain of custody utilizing an excel format spreadsheet inventory form.
+ Responsible for working with command to obtain authorization for individuals who can be authorized to check-out tools, maintain database of authorizations.
+ Thoroughly inspect tools upon return for damages or signs of degradation.
+ Perform preventative maintenance and repairs or recommend replacement on all express tool service equipment (i.e., needle guns, electric drills, impact wrenches etc.) as necessary to the SWRMC Facilities Manager.
+ Support ship's force to identify and recommend procurement of new or improved tools and labor-saving devices that will enhance productivity of ships force maintenance.
+ Ensure the government vehicles (i.e. Tool Trucks) are secured by the SWRMC transportation ship as needed.
+ Issue daily tool inventory & equipment
+ Maintain and issue hazmat, recollect unused hazmat, and collect hazmat waste (i.e., oils, grease, paint etc.) for disposal IAW SWRMCINST 5090.1A Management of Navy generated Hazardous Waste and Disposal Control.
+ Coordinate and set up electrical equipment for Command events.
+ Disassemble/Reassemble tools. Inspect tools for worn parts and damage.

The Pacific West Region is recruiting for TEMPORARY seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between sites depending on funding, weather conditions and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending on work availability and funding. Duty Location is:
* Yosemite National Park
Under the close direction of at least a grade 10 journey-level position, incumbent will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems by performing duties such as lifting, carrying, and handing tools and equipment to the journey-level employee; helping to diagnose, repair, assemble, and install electrical components; helping to cut and thread electrical conduit according to clear instructions; cutting or drilling previously marked holes in walls; using test equipment to provide preliminary electrical readings; digging trenches or holes for installation of conduit or supports; maintaining electrical work logs; etc.
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of high-voltage (above 600 volts) electric power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment.
Assist with the disassembly, repair, reassembly, and/or testing of electrical equipment.
Perform various laboring duties that require moderate physical effort. Regularly and routinely lift up to 50 pounds as part of electrician related duties. May be required to use chainsaws to clear hazards from electrical lines.
Clean work areas and tools in order to maintain a safe and orderly workshop.
Complete appropriate data entry in automated software systems required for electrical projects.
Dig ditches for repair and installation of electrical lines.
Physical Effort:
This position may be required to perform electrical work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms, and other cramped and hard-to-reach places. Duties may require the incumbent to sit, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in uncomfortable positions. The incumbent may be exposed to electrical shock, spark and arc hazard, and other health hazards. If the incumbent is assigned to perform electrical work in remote locations, the incumbent may be required to walk, hike, or drive over rough and uneven terrain. The incumbent is expected to lift and/or carry items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally exceeding 50 pounds in weight.
Working Conditions:
Work is both indoors and outdoors. Work outside may be subject to extreme weather conditions, with wind, rain, snow, and ice, in temperatures ranging from below 0 to over 100 degrees. Depending on the geography of the park unit assigned, work may take place at elevations ranging from sea level up to 10,000 feet. The incumbent may be regularly exposed to dust, fogs, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, and vapors, as well as noise, vibration, cuts, and abrasions from the use of electrical tools and equipment and may occasionally be exposed to hazardous materials that can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation and burns, as well as microbiological organisms and potentially hazardous wildlife. The incumbent is expected to comply with all safety and occupational health requirements and wear protective clothing, gloves, face shields, and in some cases a respirator that may be uncomfortable

Job Description:
This position is responsible for assisting Journeyman/1st Class electricians with the installation, repair, and hook-up of equipment for electrical services on a ship. The individual must have work knowledge of electrical theory and procedures and the ability to troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems and equipment (600 V and less) in accordance with specifications and drawings. The qualifications and general capabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability desired by the shipyard.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess the skill sets of subordinate grades of the labor class.
Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence.
Must be able to effectively confer job related information such as conditions found to the journeyman. Must understand Ohms law and its application.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist a journeyman/1st Class electrician wit completing assigned tasks successfully. Provide direction to a Helper/3rd Class electrician to help complete assigned tasks.
Arrive at the designated work site at the assigned time and end the shift as directed by the schedule and your supervisor or journeyman/1st Class electrician.
Accountable for completion of daily work assignments.
Must comply with OSHA standards and the shipyards best safety practices. Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job as prescribed under OSHA standards. PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.)
Keep your work area clean and safe at all times, especially at the end of the shift.
Provide quality work and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) as required by the work specifications or assigned by the supervisor.

1. Running cables, lines and leads, terminations/connector fabrication, packing of cable transits and harnessing cables aboard vessels.
2. Prepares work area, drills holes, grinds metal surfaces, inspect and reports on cableway and electrical equipment conditions.
3. Under direct supervision test internal circuits of major units of electrical equipment for continuity, short circuits, and grounds and measure electrical quantities and compare with established values.
4. Inspect mechanical and electrical connections including mounting bolts and screws; draw out disconnect devices and control wiring.
5. Detect and locate grounds, open circuits and short circuits in distribution generators and stems. Assist with the repair and maintenance of telephones, circuits, and associated equipment.
6. Assist with the installation of new power and lighting circuits.
7. Must be familiar with all safety procedures pertaining to electrical procedures or ask for safety information before working on electrical equipment.
8. Assist with Lock-out Tag-out for work being performed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The working environment in the shipyard varies from a normal office condition to working outside where precipitation, wind, extreme cold, and extreme heat and high humidity are not unusual. When working inside of vessels the environment may be smoky, hot or cold, and have low levels of illumination may be present.
There are heavy equipment and power tools operating almost at every location. Depending on the type of work available, reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job requirements.
Personnel can expect to work in a variety of spaces from confined areas accessible only by manholes to high platforms accessible only by scaffolding or ladders. Work may also be accomplished using mechanical lifts as working platforms.

The Head Electrician reports to the Director of Production and oversees the Electrics Department of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park within the context of the Collective Bargaining Agreements between San Diego Symphony Orchestra Association and IATSE Local 122. The Head Electrician plans for and works on all productions; supervising the implementation, operation, and maintenance of lighting equipment and leading crew members during load-ins, technical rehearsals, show runs, and loadouts. The Head Electrician also serves as either the Lighting Board Operator, Deck Electrician or Lighting Designer on all performances as assigned and assists other departments as needed.
This is a union stage crew role. Any successful candidate will be required to join IATSE Local 122 and fulfil membership requirements. This is an hourly position (currently $43.46). The wages, conditions, and terms of which are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with IATSE Local 122. It is expected that the successful candidate will make the San Diego Symphony his/her primary employment responsibility to provide expertise, stability and continuity for our clients and organization.
All Department Heads will perform necessary duties for the proper completion of performances. A Department Head may perform tasks in other areas without regard to departmental distinction; however, it is understood that these tasks shall not interfere with the safe and professional execution of their primary responsibilities to the Employer as Head of Department.

-There is always the potential of falling objects and personnel are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts during work.

-Must possess a thorough understanding of equipment and work processes used in marine electrical repair and system installation.
-Must be able to operate and care for Electric Shop equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools.
-Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Must understand US standard and metric system measurements.
-Must have six (6) years of related electrical installation and repair experience.
