    Job Title: Senior Engineering Marine Mechanical Specialist Job Category: Technical Services Job Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Job Description: Will serve as a Senior Engineering Marine Mechanical Specialist in support of the U.S. Navy Small Boat Waterfront Operations facility located at Naval Base Norfolk. The Senior Engineering Marine Mechanical Specialist will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, testing and prototyping of all types of U.S. Federal Government boats and craft, including the U.S. Navy, Special Operations Command, U.S. Marine Corps. U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, and others. Specific job requirements will include leading mechanical teams in support of boat checks and inspections, installation, and testing of various mechanical and piping systems and equipment, including engines, pumps, manifolds, control systems, and ancillary components, including trailers, transporters, launch and retrieval systems, stowage systems, maintenance/supply containers/modules, cradles, and aircraft transport and deployment systems. Required Education: Associate's degree or an equivalent trade certification from an accredited educational institution in a Diesel Technology or Marine Technology related field of study or A High School diploma or GED equivalent and possess a Marine Diesel Mechanic Certification or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) certification for two or more of the following marine industry leaders: Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Hamilton Jet, Mercury, Steyr, Twin Disc, Yanmar, Thrustmaster, Honda Marine, Yamaha, OXE, KaMeWa, Volvo, or Scania. Required Certifications: Maintain and possess Merchant Mariners Credential with minimum engineer endorsement of Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED). Desired Certifications: Maintain and possess Merchant Mariners Credential with Assistant Engineer or Designated Duty Engineer Endorsement. Required Experience: Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of small watercraft mechanical systems in all the following: Testing, maintenance, repairs, operations and troubleshooting. Leading a mechanical team. Using technical drawings to assist in repairs of craft and in identifying parts for purchase. Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and/or be able to access military facilities.
