Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking a dynamic Systems Engineering Manager, in Berkeley, Missouri, to lead a team of engineers to accomplish the Systems Engineering scope of work for a proprietary program in Air Dominance.

Position Responsibilities:
Cost, schedule and technical execution of the Systems Engineering statement of work (e.g. Requirements, Interfaces, Verification, Technical Performance Management, Integration)
Daily interface to the Systems Engineering Integration Team (SEIT) leader, Program Management, Program Chief Engineer, and Program Teams
Direct Customer engagement
Managing systems engineering execution across the program and leading resolution of critical program issues
Cost Account Manager (CAM)
Management and oversight of staffing levels
Performance evaluations, performance development and career coaching so that personnel are fully engaged and committed to program success

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
8+ years' experience with engineering of large or small-scale systems, and overall systems engineering disciplines is required.
2+ years' experience leading (formal and/or informal) multi-disciplinary engineering and integration teams is required.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Excellent understanding of systems engineering and experience developing and managing processes and databases. Hands-on experience with architecture and requirement definition, analysis and management.
Hands-on experiences with planning and conducting major program milestone reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, FCA) and the Boeing Enterprise Standard Gate Process (ESGP).
Comfortable presenting to program leaders and to customers, and you will benefit from persuasiveness and skill as a negotiator.

Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering and Project Management, the Director of Engineering drives improvements within the operations maintenance organization across 5+ facilities in the assigned region of Refresco NA. This role is responsible for advancing production technologies by applying sound maintenance and reliability principles. This role also ensures the effective execution of capital projects, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence. The Director of Engineering directly manages a team of Project Engineering Managers, each responsible for overseeing engineering efforts across multiple facilities within their assigned regions.
Essential Functions:
Develop a support organization capable of managing plant maintenance operations regionally in US and Canada.
Deliver criteria to determine whether the Maintenance Organization is fulfilling the needs of each Plant.
Develop and manage engineering and maintenance budgets across all locations, ensuring effective resource allocation for seasonal rebuilds, equipment needs, and capital projects. Monitor expenses to optimize costs and maintain alignment with company financial objectives.
Oversee the planning, execution, and prioritization of plant-driven capital projects to ensure alignment with company standards, cost-effectiveness, and business needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new initiatives that enhance capacity, flexibility, cost efficiency, and quality across facilities.
Provide strategic oversight on staffing, performance management, and workforce planning to meet business objectives.
Lead the implementation of SAP Maintenance throughout the system.

Work as an integral member of the engineering, maintenance and Infrastructure design and installation teams to ensure the timely design, infrastructure and installation and insuring delivery is on-time and within project budgets.
Creates and maintains planning and execution models for site/line startups by working with Process Improvement and Learning communities to clarify and Refresco Supply Chain Procedures to ensure best practice and standard work is appropriately valued and leveraged to support rapid Supply Expansion.
Assess project requirements and workload. Allocate resources within the Engineering teams at each location
Provide guidance to plant assigned engineers by defining scope of work, critical milestones and expected project completion dates.
Establish strong cross-functional collaboration by communicating project plans, milestones, and results to stakeholders at all levels.
Engage with plant leadership to align resources and adapt processes to meet evolving business needs.
Establish and maintain adequate departmental staffing and manage consultant services to make possible the construction of equipment and facilities that conform to approved specifications and regulatory requirements.

Coordinates maintenance aspects of new product launches and new or modified operational processes.

The Role We Want You For
The Project Manager, Engineering - Mission Critical will lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering highly technical engineering design packages for Mission Critical and Data Center projects, supporting clients nationwide. This role requires collaboration with internal design and Construction teams, ensuring the successful execution of complex, fast-paced design or design-build projects that meet stringent uptime, scalability, and security requirements. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of high-performance environments and mission critical systems and will guide a team of engineers, architects, and designers through all project phases-from conceptual through final design and construction administration-while ensuring excellence in delivery.
The Specifics of the Role
Lead engineering and design teams in executing projects that meet the rigorous demands of Tier-certified and mission critical facilities, including Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, and other industry standards.
Manage quality and technical excellence through structured design reviews and cross-discipline coordination.
Collaborate with clients to define functional and operational goals, including redundancy (N+1, 2N), energy efficiency (PUE), and capacity planning.
Oversee and ensure accuracy in submittal reviews, RFI responses, and onsite field verifications during construction.
Develop and review process and MEP engineering designs tailored for data center cooling, power distribution, and systems integration.
Present engineering solutions and updates to stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and external partners.
Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and utilize project management tools to track and report progress.
Exhibit strong written and verbal technical communication skills, including report writing and leading design presentations.
Apply knowledge of construction principles, mission critical technologies, and evolving design methodologies.
Drive cross-functional coordination and leadership in a high-performance team environment.
Perform jobsite walks, inspections, and technical audits including climbing ladders and accessing multi-level infrastructure.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline preferred).
10+ years of engineering design experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused on Mission Critical / Data Center environments (colocation, hyperscale, enterprise).
2+ years of experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams, ideally on fast-track design/build projects.
Strong understanding of power systems, cooling technologies (e.g., CRAH, CRAC, chilled water), and BMS integration.
Familiarity with standards and certifications such as Uptime Institute Tier levels, NFPA 70E, ASHRAE 90.1/TC 9.9, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
Experience with both greenfield and retrofit data center projects is a strong plus.

This role will design, develop, and operationalize an intelligent, scalable, and automated data pipeline ecosystem that leverages AI agents, orchestration frameworks, and modern data engineering tools to extract, transform, and load data from diverse legacy systems.
The ideal candidate will bring deep data engineering expertise, AI-driven automation experience, and proven leadership skills to advance innovation, scalability, and efficiency across Mastercard's data infrastructure.
This is a hybrid position based in O'Fallon, MO or Arlington, VA, requiring three days per week onsite.
Role:
- Drive modernization from legacy and on-prem systems to modern, cloud-native, and hybrid data platforms.
- Architect and lead the development of a Multi-Agent ETL Platform for batch and event streaming, integrating AI agents to autonomously manage ETL tasks such as data discovery, schema mapping, and error resolution.
- Define and implement data ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines using scalable frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Nifi, dbt, Spark, Kafka, or Dagster).
- Leverage LLMs, and agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen) to automate pipeline management and monitoring.
- Ensure robust data governance, cataloging, versioning, and lineage tracking across the ETL platform.
- Define project roadmaps, KPIs, and performance metrics for platform efficiency and data reliability.
- Establish and enforce best practices in data quality, CI/CD for data pipelines, and observability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Data Science, Analytics, and Application Development) to understand requirements and deliver efficient data ingestion and processing workflows.
- Establish and enforce best practices, automation standards, and monitoring frameworks to ensure the platform's reliability, scalability, and security.
- Build relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, to influence data-driven strategies and decisions.
- Continuously engage and improve teams' performance by conducting recurring meetings, knowing your people, managing career development, and understanding who is at risk.
- Oversee deployment, monitoring, and scaling of ETL and agent workloads across multi cloud environments.
- Continuously improve platform performance, cost efficiency, and automation maturity.
All About You:
- Hands-on experience in data engineering, data platform strategy, or a related technical domain.
- Proven experience leading global data engineering or platform engineering teams.
- Proven experience in building and modernizing distributed data platforms using technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, NiFi, and Cloudera/Hadoop.
- Strong experience with one or more of data pipeline tools (Nifi, Airflow, dbt, Spark, Kafka, Dagster, etc.) and distributed data processing at scale.
- Experience building and managing AI-augmented or agent-driven systems will be a plus.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data ecosystems (Oracle, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.).
- Deep understanding of data modeling, metadata management, and data governance principles.
- Proven success in leading technical teams and managing complex, cross-functional projects.
- Passion for staying current in a fast-paced field with proven ability to lead innovation in a scaled organization.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor technical concepts to executive, operational, and technical audiences.
- Expertise and ability to lead technical decision-making considering scalability, cost efficiency, stakeholder priorities, and time to market.
- Proven track leading high-performing teams with experience leading and coaching director level reports and experienced individual contributors.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.

Arlington, Virginia: $230,000 - $368,000 USD
O'Fallon, Missouri: $200,000 - $320,000 USD
