ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Including but not limited to the following.

Conducts weekly inspections of the facility, documents findings, arranges for and monitors progress of clean-up/remediation of problem areas.
Conducts training for other employees regarding waste handling, chemical hazards, pollution prevention, waste minimization, etc.
Coordinate and oversee Environmental Vac Truck contractor for facility.
Directs hourly personnel in performance of environmental tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
At least 3 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist or a similar position in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or similarly related field is preferred
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports.
Ability to be decisive and apply sound and reasonable judgement under pressure.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with proven ability to prioritize tasks.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Work is performed in an industrial setting with varying temperatures, loud noise and heavy activity.

WESTON has an immediate opening for an Environmental Specialist. The position will include field work and office work supporting field projects involving investigations and remediation of hazardous waste sites. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, leading projects, performing sampling of environmental media (soil, water, waste, air, etc.), chemical and physical screening of samples in the field, shipping samples to laboratories for analysis, evaluating analytical results, and preparing reports of investigations and removal actions. The position also includes participation as an on-call emergency responder, serving approximately 1 week per month for 24/7 emergency response to chemical and oil spills. This position requires the ability to travel.
This position is an integral member of the project team, interfacing with internal and external clients, preparing project deliverables, and clearly communicating with other project team members.

Qualifications:
* B.S. or M.S. Environmental Science, or related Engineering, Physical or Life Science with at least 6 years of direct experience in a variety of environmental response operations, such as sampling, assessments, lab coordination, and document preparation.
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (field equipment, PPE, etc.)
* Must be eligible to work in the United States and have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Experience:
* Experience planning and leading environmental site investigations at sites with potentially hazardous substances.
* Interacting with clients to understand project objectives and expectations.
* OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 preferred.
* Preparation of field work plans, including health and safety plans and field sampling plans. Experience preparing quality assurance project plans (QAPP) and/or UFP QAPPs is a plus.
* Oversight of subcontractors
* Ability to organize and review data (analytical data, monitoring data)
* Collection of multimedia samples (soil, water, air, waste).

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Essential Responsibilities
Manage routine to complex projects with strict adherence to schedule, budget, and quality.

As a Hydrogeologist and Environmental Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), in our Pittsburgh, PA Office, you'll provide field and office support on projects related to environmental site characterization and hydrogeologic investigations, including pumping and slug test data collection, drilling oversight, data evaluation and interpretation, groundwater modelling, and assisting with report preparation. You will work with senior hydrogeologists and receive training in aquifer test analysis, digital groundwater modeling, and fate and transport modeling, as needed, to develop the skillset required to succeed as a hydrogeologist. Work assignments and professional development will focus on activities that build upon an existing knowledge of hydrogeology, and may include the following duties:
Applying knowledge of geochemistry and hydrogeology to evaluate groundwater flow and quality and determine contaminant fate and transport.
Preparing environmental data tables, drilling logs, potentiometric and/or contaminant contour maps, and assisting with preparation of reports to present and interpret compiled data.
Overseeing and documenting drilling of exploratory borings and installation of groundwater monitoring wells, including preparation of boring logs and well completion diagrams.
Collecting or supervising the collection of soil, surface water, and groundwater samples for analysis of chemical composition.
Conducting aquifer testing (e.g., pumping tests) and interpreting aquifer test data.
Planning and implementing single-well permeability tests and assisting with the planning and implementation of multi-well pumping tests; and
Performing aquifer test data evaluation and digital groundwater modeling using Aqtesolv, MODFLOW, and/or MT3D.
Qualifications

Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.

IDEAL CANDIDATES will have an intimate understanding of oil and gas field operations (experience working in an O&G facility would be a definite asset) and have experience in performing hydrocarbon fugitive emission and /or leak detection projects.
