Assists with the application of site data to further the preferred project approach. Under the direct supervision of a qualified professional, conducts field site investigations. Performs soil, water, air, etc. sampling, wetland delineation, wildlife/habitat surveys, and similar site investigations and documentation of results. Under direct supervision, assists with the preparation of environmental studies (e.g., NEPA documents, field reports, feasibility studies, etc.) of basic complexity. Collaborates with scientists, engineers, and construction staff to implement the approved approach (e.g., restoration, remediation, etc.). Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Hydrogeologist to support our expanding business in Florida and throughout the Gulf Region. The position will also provide hydrogeology support to the Water Resources Business Line. This position is based out of Stantec's West Palm Beach office. The Hydrogeologist will report to a Hydrogeologist Team Leader and will be responsible for designing, supporting, and executing hydrogeological investigations for dewatering, water supply, and aquifer recharge studies for water supply clients. This candidate also will be responsible for leading a large capacity production well design and construction projects. The successful candidate should have a background in drilling groundwater production wells, familiar with deep injection well construction, ability to oversee and support groundwater flow modeling, field investigations, conduct aquifer performance tests, project management, and technical report writing. This position interacts with both internal and external clients in field and office settings. The position requires travel to sites, primarily in the central Florida area. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary for the position.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Follow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
- Develop new well designs for groundwater monitoring and groundwater production.
- Design field investigations in support of hydrogeology studies including drilling, well construction, and testing oversight; groundwater sampling; and water level monitoring.
- Prepare technical reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
- Prepare and deliver presentations of hydrogeologic investigations to internal and external clients.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and provide input to improve hydrogeologic interpretations or client deliverables.
- Assist project managers with developing project budgets, determining project scope, and establishing project schedules.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations (record of publications, project reports, and/or public presentations will be requested).
- Ability to work independently and provide a supervisory role in the field at remote sites.
- Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of an B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Hydrogeology/Geology/Geochemistry or related field is required.
- Experience and/or course work completed in geology, hydrogeology, and production well design and construction, and aquifer test analysis is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience in consulting, mining or similar field requiring regularly using and analyzing hydrogeologic data.
- Existing professional registration in Florida or ability to work towards a professional registration (PG).

**The Team**

This role offers varied daily work. As an Environmental Project Manager, you will lead with 5-10 years' hand-on practical experience in environmental investigations, assessments, and remediation projects, engaging with clients, regulators, and contractor oversight. In this position, you will:
Managing and overseeing project work associated with environmental investigations and remediation oversight under CERCLA, RCRA, and state-specific guidance.
Leading technical teams working across multiple offices throughout the country, problem-solving, preparing plans and specifications, and meeting with clients and subcontractors.
Communicating with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Developing Work Plans and/or Sampling and Analysis Plans.
Conducting site investigation activities, including sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, indoor air, vapor intrusion, soil gas, drinking water, and building materials.
Leading Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
Compiling and interpreting investigation data and writing technical reports.
Evaluating the feasibility of technologies, designing pilot/bench tests, and designing and implementing remedial/corrective actions.
Providing environmental compliance support to senior regulatory specialists, including data collection for permitting and/or registration, data analysis, regulatory compliance evaluation, and assessment.
Supporting marketing/business development efforts.
Project sites may include Superfund sites, large and complex federal facilities, or military installations, and commercial or industrial properties.
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering; Geology or Hydrogeology; Geoscience-related degree.
EIT or GIT is required.
P.E or P.G. certification is preferred.
5-10 Years of relevant experience in the field of environmental assessment/remediation.
Experience performing and/or reviewing Phase I ESAs.
Knowledge or experience in RCRA and CERCLA processes (RI/FS, RD/RA, ROD, LTM) and documentation.
HAZWOPER training and certification.
Valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in the U.S.
Experience with federal projects and/or working with DoD/Navy projects is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft program products.

Who You Are

MAS Environmental (A NOVA Engineering Company) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead our FDEP Petroleum Restoration Projects (PRP). This role involves project management, physical oversight of monitoring well/soil boring installation, groundwater sampling, regulatory and client interactions, pilot testing, tank and spill bucket closures and proposal preparation.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP) projects from inception to completion, ensuring all project goals are met within the specified timeline and budget.
* Provide physical oversight of monitoring well/soil boring installation, groundwater sampling, regulatory and client interactions, pilot testing, tank and spill bucket closures and proposal preparation.
* Oversee the design and implementation of remedial systems, including site assessments, feasibility studies, and engineering designs.
* Ensure all projects comply with FDEP regulations and other relevant environmental laws and standards.
* Mentor and develop junior engineering staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
* Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
* Prepare detailed engineering reports, project documentation, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies.
* Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and financial accountability.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
* Minimum of 7+ years of experience in environmental engineering, with a focus on petroleum restoration projects and remedial system design, construction, and maintenance.
* Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) is highly preferred.
* Strong proficiency in environmental engineering principles, remedial system design, and project management software.
* In-depth knowledge of FDEP regulations and other relevant environmental laws and standards.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, regulatory agencies, and team members.
* Proven ability to lead and manage project teams, with a focus on mentoring and developing junior staff.

The Environmental Lands Technician duties involve all aspects of managing the County's system of designated nature preserves and environmental lands. Coordination with the Environmental Lands Specialist and Parks and Recreation Department in the operation and maintenance in accordance with adopted resource management plans and accepted natural resource practices for the Hernando County preserves is required. Coordination with other County Departments and outside agencies is also required.
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but shall not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the workload.
* Assists in managing the ecological resources on County nature preserves and parks including invasive plant management program, prescribed burning program, habitat restoration and other ecological activities in accordance with adopted policies, guidelines, and practices.
* Coordinates the maintenance of recreational amenities and physical structures/buildings on designated nature preserves.
* Repairs and maintains all aspects of nature preserves.
* Builds and repairs a variety of fences.
* Maintains preserve trails and amenities such as kiosks, parking areas, and pavilions.
* Trims and removes trees.
* Operates most equipment associated with lawn/turf maintenance.
* Transports equipment used in daily activities from site to site.
* Operates equipment (tractor, ditch-witch, jackhammer) and all other power tools associated with construction projects.
* Maintains records for equipment.
* Effectively manage phone calls from staff in your assigned area regarding questions, repairs or other circumstance that may arise.
* Prioritize all maintenance repairs and safety concerns accordingly.
* Communicate directly with the Environmental Lands Specialist about repairs, safety issues/concerns, and other pertinent information in your area.
* Custodial duties within nature preserves as necessary.
* Regular attendance including occasional weekends.
* Additional duties as requested by manager.
Emergency Response
County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description.Minimum Qualifications
* Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
* Experience: Five (5) years of experience in construction and electrical work, trail maintenance, invasive/exotic plant management, prescribed burns, or an acceptable combination of training and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
* Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License and be insurable by current insurance carrier.
* FDACS Chemical applicators license in aquatics and natural areas must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
A combination of education, training and experience may be substituted at the County's discretion.

* Knowledge of safe, efficient, and effective use of equipment, hand, and power tools.

The Environmental team spends time in the field and in front of a computer throughout the year.
