Lead Equipment Operator - Truck String and Urban Drainage Are you an experienced heavy equipment operator who excels in fast-paced field environments? Key Responsibilities
* Leadership and Coordination: Lead and support the daily activities of Urban Drainage and Truck String crews, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
* Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders, and specialized trucks used throughout Urban Drainage and Truck String assignments.
* Urban Drainage Maintenance: Inspect, install, clean, and maintain drainage systems, culverts, and ditches to reduce flooding risks and keep infrastructure performing as intended.
* Truck String Support: Perform hauling, material transport, and roadway support tasks while coordinating with Truck String crews to meet project demands and timelines.

* Provides training on equipment and best practices for maintenance processes and procedures; guides and mentors employees.
* Performs manual labor using various tools, materials, and equipment. Performs snow removal operations.
* Loads and unloads equipment and materials. Prepares, maintains, and cleans equipment and job sites for various projects.
* Safely operates various types of construction and maintenance vehicles in compliance with laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures.
* Maintains complete and accurate records of all work performed including tasks performed and materials used.
* Provides accurate tracking of crew's usage of materials and provides to the supervisor, including collecting and verifying daily delivery and pick-up tickets. Verifies accuracy of employee entry in timekeeping, including correct jobs and hours and equipment.
* Responds to on-call after hours emergencies, such as snow removal, flood repair, tornado clean-up, or other natural disaster or safety need for the motoring public.
* Performs supervisory duties in absence of the Highway Supervisor.

Preferred Education & Experience
* One year of welding experience with portable arc welder and oxy/acetylene torch.
Licenses/Certificates
* Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brakes and tanker endorsement.
* Must obtain and maintain necessary certifications and licenses as applicable to position.
* Lead Traffic Equipment Operator:
* Must possess IMSA Sign and Pavement Markings Technician I Certification or equivalent.
* Must possess current ATSSA or IMSA Traffic Control Technician Certification or equivalent.

Pre-Employment Requirements

LOCATION: This is a traveling position requiring frequent travel to project sites across the Mountain Construction region. Per diem will be provided.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking an Equipment Operator to perform various equipment operating activities on a construction site. As an Operator, you may perform Laborer job functions based on client and project requirements.
Equipment Operator:
* Operates various construction equipment safely and efficiently, including: excavators, loaders, graders, scrapers, skid loaders, and rollers.
* Performs daily equipment inspection and maintenance requirements with proper documentation in compliance with company policies.
* Offloads or load outs construction materials and/or debris.
* Reads and interprets surveying staking pertaining to grade control and utilities.
* Interacts with geotechnical engineer and interpret testing results.
* Performs other duties associated with the operation and maintenance of equipment.
Laborer:
* Identifies and operates hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, saws, power drills, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
* Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards, including rubble and debris.
* Reads and interprets plans, instructions, and specifications.
* Controls passing traffic.
* Signals Equipment Operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment.
* Identifies and follows safe working procedures.
* Identifies and stops unsafe work practices that present imminent danger to others.
* Performs other physical labor and responsibilities as assigned, including: digs ditches and trenches, backfills excavations, seals structural components, measures and records areas, unloads and identifies materials, assembles and erects equipment including scaffolding, pours concrete, and sets braces to support the sides of excavations.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* 10+ years' experience operating construction equipment, including: excavators, loaders, graders, scrapers, skid loaders, and rollers
* Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Equipment Operators, Laborers and all other personnel on site
* Must be able to read and understand construction drawings
* Listen to and understand information and direction verbally
* Listen to and understand information and direction in writing
* Knowledge of use of power and hand tools, materials, and equipment used on construction sites
* Knowledge of excavation and backfilling methods, practices and procedures
* Knowledge of safety practices and procedures specific to labor work, including OSHA standards
* Demonstrate willingness to take on job challenges
* Demonstrate energy and stamina to accomplish work tasks
* Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and dependability
* Demonstrate careful attention to detail and thoroughness
* Ability to work with crew members
* Valid driver's license
* This position may require, now or in the future, a Commercial Driver's License
* Must be able to pass a drug screen and back ground check
