Maintain all personal protective equipment and devices in good working condition. Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe and orderly environment. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, and unusual events to supervisor. Assure that work areas are clean and safe. Ensuring all equipment, tools and supplies are properly stored before leaving areas on breaks, mealtimes, and end of workday. Maintenance work areas are to be free of hazardous conditions (i.e. grease, oil spills, excess equipment and supplies, unsupervised extension cords, etc.) Follow established fire and safety programs and conducting monthly firedrills, as well as, have knowledge of proper operation and re-setting of alarms and sprinkling systems. Presents a courteous, cooperative, and compassionate demeanor to Village residents, staff, and visitors at all times. Maintains the confidentiality of resident information. Honors the residents personal and property rights including knocking on doors before entering resident room. What is required in this position? High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Prior experience in general maintenance preferred. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to do heavy work and lift a maximum of 100 pounds with or without assistance. Must have basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical ability.
