Key Responsibilities
This role specializes in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical power systems, including uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution units (PDU), static switches (STS), and related systems.
This role ensures the continuous, reliable operation of mission-critical infrastructure for data centers, hospitals, telecommunications facilities, and other environments where uninterrupted power is essential.
Performs service tasks, identifies technical problems, and conducts analysis through remote or on-site activities in various service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, engineering and consulting, advanced services, extensions, upgrades and retrofits, end-of-life services, replacements, etc.).
Contributes to customer satisfaction by executing service work according to customer orders and expectations. Builds and maintains good relationships with customers, understands their needs, and identifies new sales opportunities to communicate internally.
Coordinates, prepares, and ensures that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and meet the appropriate quality standards for service activities.
Identifies potential equipment failures proactively and requests corrective actions. Troubleshoots equipment failures and makes recommendations to prevent future issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 1+ years' experience servicing critical power equipment OR Associates Degree in electrical technology with 3+ years' experience servicing critical power equipment OR High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work and/or military experience (8+ years) servicing critical power equipment.
Preferred:
• Advanced level ability to interact and communicate (written and verbal) information to varying levels within the organization.
• Advanced level of ability to use Microsoft Office products.
• Moderate ability to Project Manage using MS Project or Excel.
• Advanced ability to write test plans and reports detailing test results.
• Advanced ability to stay organized and meet deadlines on administrative duties.
• Collaborates well with others.
• Works with a sense of urgency and ownership; until the job is complete!
Must have valid US drivers license
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

The FieldServiceTechnician is a key customer facing position that represents the Vantive brand in clinical and hospital settings. This position manages an assigned territory and travels to perform installation, repair, preventative maintenance, training, and other services on a variety of electro-mechanical medical devices. FieldTechnicians are hands-on and enjoy solving advanced technical problems, interacting with customers, applying attention to detail, working autonomously, variation in their work, and traveling. This position focuses on providing a positive customer experience, strong communication, and ensuring all services needs are met in a quality and timely manner.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
• Perform installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of electro-mechanical medical equipment, ensuring compliance with SLAs, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment failures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions using analytical and technical skills.
• Manage service territory by scheduling service calls, preventive maintenance, and travel efficiently to meet SLA commitments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, maintenance records, and inventory transactions; ensure test equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
• Plan and order necessary parts for service and maintenance, maintaining proper inventory control.
• Provide training and guidance to customer personnel on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and inspection techniques.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding service status, arrival times, and issue resolution to maintain strong relationships and customer satisfaction.
• Represent the company professionally through positive attitude, appearance, and engagement with customers and colleagues.

Required Qualifications
• Experienced in biomedical engineering, including installation, maintenance, and repair of medical devices, with the ability to diagnose issues, perform mechanical adjustments, and apply independent judgment to resolve complex equipment problems in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently to effectively manage assigned territory.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a high level professional and courteous conduct with peers, internal and external customers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint).
• Able to work in healthcare environments while adhering to PPE protocols (e.g., gowning, mask), and meet the physical demands of the role including standing, kneeling, bending, and regularly lifting up to 50 lbs, with occasional heavier lifting using appropriate aids.
• Ability to travel 50-75%, including overnight stays; willingness to drive long distances or fly as required.
• Valid driver's license required.

Experience and Education
• Associate's degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

• OR Biomedical Engineering Technology (BMET) certification with 3+ years of electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• OR completion of a U.S. military electrical or electrical biomedical equipment technology program.
• Previous fieldservice experienced is strongly preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of AC/DC theory, as well as the ability to troubleshoot 480VAC 3 phase motor control systems. A.A. degree or Equivalent vocational-training or experience is preferred.
A minimum of 2-year hands-on electro-mechanical maintenance, preferrable on overhead bridge cranes
Aptitude for both electrical and mechanical environments as well as familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment
Willingness to work overtime
Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving record
Must pass drug-screen and background check
Strong communication skills
Proven commitment to safety
Comfort with working at heights
Experience in Variable Frequency drives and PLC programming a plus

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Area Service Manager, the Field Technical Engineer is responsible for performing OEM service and installations of medical devices. Performs skilled technical work in the repair, preventative maintenance and upgrades of OEM medical devices or systems. Complete scheduled preventive maintenance, unplanned maintenance and perform any required equipment upgrades.
Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through service excellence.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of records of all installations and deinstallations, repairs and maintenance and of all regulatory compliance paperwork.
Train customers on basic operation and use of medical devices.
Manage inventory, keep accurate records, and return unused and failed parts promptly.
Perform PM's on time, provide expeditious on-site response and minimize equipment downtime.
Respond to customer inquiries in written form (with managerial approval), in person, or via telephone as needed.
Escalate customer issues and unresolved product problems to service management in a comprehensive and timely manner.
Promote service contract offerings and assist Sales in selling service agreements to customers within your assigned territory
Provide on-call service coverage on a rotating basis, as needed.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities
