A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN
As an operations technician, you spend your day working directly with customer service assistance to residential and commercial collection customers. Other duties include delivering and removing plastic carts, collecting and disposing of various items, maintaining records of services rendered. Your job is essential to the city, and you perform various setting up and removing sanitation containers from field locations for residential and commercial collection. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include operating light equipment and a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
When you are not out in the city, you generally are back at the office providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Performs operational checks, induction and return to service inspections, troubleshoot faults, remove and replace components, service generators, remove and replace fluids, make adjustments and alignments, use hand tools and electronic measuring devices such as AC/DC voltmeters and, ohms meters able to read, understand, and follow technical manuals, engineering documents, schematic diagrams, safety bulletins, and news flashes; be able to input data into databases and be able to retrieve data to perform maintenance or provide reports as requested
Capable of routine system maintenance and analysis functions including hardware configurations; adding, removing, and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic testing tools; reading of electronic circuit schematics; and repairing printed circuit boards and ability to perform minor maintenance on generators such as changing oil and filter and other duties as assigned related to scope of AOR (area of responsibility of an FSR/FST (Field Service Representative/Technician)

Selling and performing complete vehicle alignment on all cars and light trucks

Balancing of wheel assemblies

PURPOSE: The General Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards. S/he also will oversee the work of any apprentice technician assigned to him/her.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Receive repair orders from dispatcher and take to stall area.
Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
Advice service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
Document work performed.
Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician, keeping in mind that customers' vehicles should not be used for personal errands.
Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned. Attend factory-sponsored training classes. Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean. Keep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership-owned tools at all times.
Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous
wastes.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN
As an operations technician, you spend your day working directly with customer service assistance to residential and commercial collection customers. Other duties include delivering and removing plastic carts, collecting and disposing of various items, maintaining records of services rendered. Your job is essential to the city, and you perform various setting up and removing sanitation containers from field locations for residential and commercial collection.
