    The Lab Teaching Assistant (TA) provides instructional support to faculty and students in a laboratory setting. Hours: Approximately 10-20 hours per week, depending on the course and departmental needs. TYPICAL ACTIVITIES Key Responsibilities: 1. Instructional Support: * Conducting laboratory sessions, including demonstrating techniques and procedures. * Provide guidance and support to students during lab activities to help them understand course concepts. * Answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and clarify instructions related to experiments. 2. Safety and Compliance: * Enforce safety protocols and ensure students follow proper procedures to maintain a safe working environment. * Handle hazardous materials and chemicals according to safety guidelines. * Report any safety incidents or equipment malfunctions to the instructor or lab supervisor. 4. Grading and Assessment: * Grading lab reports, quizzes, or assignments as directed by the instructor. * Provide constructive feedback to students to help improve their performance. 5. Administrative Tasks: * Track student attendance and participation during lab sessions. * Record and maintain accurate data related to experiments and results. * Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions as required. 6. Student Liaison * The Liaison will act as a bridge between students and our MPH program. The Student Liaison represents student interests, voices concerns, gathers feedback, and communicates important information from the our program Administration to the students and vice versa. Student Liaisons work to ensure that students' needs and perspectives are considered in decisions that affect them. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Enrollment in a graduate program related to the discipline of the course. * Effective communication and interpersonal skills. * Experience working in a laboratory setting, with a focus on safety and organization. * Ability to manage time and multitask in a dynamic learning environment. * Shadow all HSCI 1200 labs one term before starting to teach the lab PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
